Hello,

I purchased a Coleco Vision on ebay for $9.99, It was stated that it was sold as is.
And could not be tested due to no RF cable or Power supply.
I figured i would take a chance for $9.99

It just arrived today, It appears very clean and well taken care of.
It does have 2 controllers with it.
Only problem it appears to have so far is the expansion door will not close.
I put a good amount of force to it, And it will not move!

I was wondering if anyone here has a extra power supply and RF cable?
They would like to get rid of? Before i go to ebay and try to obtain them.

I have attached a couple of pix of the system.
Thanks so much for any help!

Silkie.....

That door jams too easy. I forgot how to close it. I just remember moving it around alittle until it became free.

I have a spare power supply if you're willing to pay for shipping from Canada. PM me if you're interested.

I recently bought my first CV from Goodwill's auction site for the same price (before shipping), and mine also didn't come with a power supply, so I arranged to buy one from the.golden.ax. I don't know if he still has any left, but you might PM him to ask.

Unfortunately my CV shows a partially garbled screen on startup, so I'm guessing it either has the power switch problem or something worse. Need to buy a soldering iron...

One thing to keep in mind is that selling the console without the power supply or cord is the easy way for a seller to claim they couldn't test it.
It's likely they threw the power supply in the garage after finding the unit didn't work right, or they will sell the power supply later by itself

Granted the power switch is the most common problem, but desoldering it and removing it from the board, refurbishing and soldering back in place, without damaging either the switch or the traces or plated thru holes on the PCB is easier said than done.

Anyway good luck to both of you gentlemen.

Thanks Yurkie, I also collect arcade machines. So I'm used to things not working when I buy them. And I have dealt with a few of those Pcb's. But I'm not familiar at all with ColecoVisions. I see your the expert on them. You probably will be hearing from me a lot! Lol.

Update: I finally got a powersupply and RF cable. The power supply I found out needed some work. I pulled it apart. Fixed the +5V then tried it out. I was very pleased to find out the Colecovision does work! And also the other Colecovision I purchased for $10 too, Which was listed as non working. So now I have 2 working Colecovision's. Now just need to do the A/V and power switch mods. Can anyone point me to the best ones out there? Thanks so much!

I took the Colecvision apart and cleaned everything! It is spotless inside and out now. Here's a pic of it apart running.

Sorry for not getting back to you regarding the power supply. Glad you managed to get one despite my lack of communication.

Regarding A/V mods I would suggest the following:

Component Video Mod

Composite Video Mod - Plus Yurkie offers a host of other suberb refurbishment and mods including a superb Pause mod.

You should also check out the DIY Modifications thread for other composite A/v options if you're willing to DIY.
