I'm expecting a bare bones original Odyssey system to arrive next week (console, two controllers, one game). I need an RF switch box to test it. I was thinking about getting an Odyssey pong machine but am confused as to which ones use a switch box that is compatible with the original Odyssey. I think I'm safe with the 100-300 models but was wondering whether the X000 models would work too. I'm just trying to find the cheapest one off eBay.

I have an early Odyssey 2 that I "modded" to replace the original RF cable with a standard RCA tip cable, so I have that old proprietary-tipped cable to use with the original Odyssey.

Thanks for any help!

The Odyssey requires a non-standard connector, it's a strange connector, not like regular coax or rf.
Search ebay for "Odyssey RF converter" or something.

You can use that. ^

Thanks for the help. For the time being, I figured out a workaround that I'll share in case anyone else is in the same peculiar boat.

I have a couple of original Odyssey 2 consoles as well. These have an RF cable with the same proprietary tip as the original Odyssey. (Later models of the O2 had a standard phono-type RF connector.) You can open the O2 and replace the original RF cable with a cable with phono (or RCA, don't know if there's a difference) tips at both ends to use with a phono/coax adapter. My first post reflecting my thinking that the O2 cable had the proprietary tip at both ends, but it doesn't. The O2 cable looks like this:

My bright idea was to plug the proprietary end into the original Odyssey and plug the phono tip into the phono/coax adapter plugged into my TV. And it worked. Not great, but I could verify that my 1972 Run 1 Odyssey was working! The phono tip is just crimped onto the cable, so I may try to upgrade that connection later.

So I guess I won't be needing that switch box anymore!
