Just out of interest, is the innards on these a butchered jagpad, or a custom PCB?
Custom PCB.

NOICE! :)

Well I figured I couldn't go on butchering them forever... and it's a fairly simple circuit. In fact, these boards are so simple in design that I'm making them on stripboard. Who needs the hassle of etching boards when all the traces are going in straight lines anyway?

Valid point, BUT :D I would probably have gone and got a bunch of boards etched from some prototype place.. for no reason other than 'because' :D

You can kind of see the light in these photos.

The button glows all the time, rather than just with button-presses, but it does look rather cool. I did once (accidentally) have it lighting up on each button push, and it didn't look nearly as good as having it on all the time.

How about a bipolar LED? Switch the color when pushed.

That would mean making the button transparent, otherwise the red filter would spoil the effect.

Maybe just dim the button a bit when not pushed, and switch to full brightness when pushed ? :)

Yeah, I thought that, also it doesn't look like an LED (is it?) More of an arcade white light in there?

Whatever it is, the thing looks fantastic. My kids would FLIP.

I love that they have caught the classic game bug big time as of late. Warms my heart.

Or, y'know, maybe I'll just leave it as it is, so I don't have to design a whole new circuit for it :)

It's a proper arcade quality illuminated button. There is an LED inside, which hits a diffuse filter and gives a nice glow across the whole surface of the button.

Just in case people weren't drooling enough...

Here's two of them in action!

(we even added some ShakycamTM in the end of the video, so it'd fit with most videos featuring the Atari Jaguar :D)

I'm honoured and awed that you would put such an epic soundtrack to those controllers. Also glad you're enjoying them.

For everybody else: I hope to have a batch ready to sell soon. I can't say exactly how soon, because I need to order some more parts, and finish the assembly of them and such, and what with christmas coming up stuff may or may not get done as quickly as I'd like it to.

When I have some ready for sale, you'll hear about it here on AA first.
