Raspberry PI

There seemed to be some, perhaps well-deserved, skepticism about the nD project (http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/184117-nd/), and though not specifically a handheld gaming device, what does everyone think of this project? - Raspberry PI - an "ultra-low-cost (~15UKP or 25USD) Linux computer for teaching computer programming to children."

Well, my first reaction is "Why not use an existing computer or one of hundreds of similar already-existing devices?"

Am I wrong? Does this bring something new & necessary to the table?

Low price point. HDMI out. Pre built. It's cheaper than a beagle board, less embedded than an arduino. I think it hits a sweet spot in a lot of ways.

I think some of the main draws are:

1)Cost ($25-$35 - doesnt beat a 'free' already existing computer but still very affordable)

2)Form factor

3)Power Consumption (low - "Target power consumption is <1W")

4)HDMI/Composite Output

What are some of the other existing devices that are similar in price/form factor/capabilities?
