My girlfriend just got the silver PSP with the Kingdom Hearts bundle. Looks good, feels nice. I'm paranoid and want to get her a screen protector and a case for it as soon as possible. She seems to like it.

Get a Playgear Pocket case and skip the screen protector. The case is the screen protector.

I have a 1000 and only play retro games on it and it works really well... I liked the 3000 but dont think I will buy one ... the 1000 does the business for me and it has a great weighty feel to it...

I can second that. I had the 1000 equivalent once, and it was fantastic. Also, I'm glad she enjoys it!

Hey guys, there is a wavy border of lighter color around the edge of the screen, noticeable in dark colors. It is a hard edge between the lighter border and darker middle. That normal for 3000s? It bugs me a little, but less so if this is normal.

I don't remember ever noticing that on mine, but I have seen it mentioned several times over the years and even have seen some shots of it.

I think it's common, at the very least.

Here's a mockup I grabbed after a few seconds of searching that someone made to demonstrate what they were talking about. Is a bit more pronounced here than it is in reality, and I've seen shots where the transition was more wavy instead of being so consistent.

Is this what you're talking about?

Yes, it is a lot like that, but not nearly so pronounced.

Actually the silver PSP 3K I picked up earlier I ended up returning because of that very problem. I got a new one instead and it doesn't seem to have this problem. I've heard that it has something to do with the screen being too tight (?), but I don't know if that's right.

Hmm, now I'm thinking a return might be the best idea after all. A defective unit is a defective unit.
