I have some AA NiMh batteries that I was hoping to recharge and use in the Nintendo Super Scope one of the guys here is shipping to me, however these batteries I have, which worked just fine a couple of years ago, no longer seem to charge up. The charger does not indicate that they are faulty, it lights up to show it is recharging them just fine. After several hours (it's not a quick charge system just an older slow charge) it indicates it has completed recharging but when I put these batteries into something like my Wiimote, the battery indicator onscreen shows almost no charge.

Strangely, I have other similar batteries in my Wii Balance Board that I got at the same time and they get very little use but when I have a party or something and recharge those NiMh's they do recharge just fine.

I read online there is a way to "jump" an old NiMh battery to cause rechargers to see that they need to be charged up again, it sounds a little dangerous though. Should I try it, even though my charger has no problem seeing the batteries? Should I just recharge and recharge and recharge several times till these particular batteries get filled? Or should I just turf them because they are a couple of years old and batteries left that long just die (unless kept in a Wii Balance Board)?

If they are more than 5 years old, then best idea is to recycle them (try not to toss, bad for the envirnment).

BUT they are nimh's, read up on this:

there are also lots of other places telling how to bring new life to old nimh's.

Hope this helps!

I keep it simple.. Put it in the charger, if they work, great, if not not toss them. Problem solved!

The best NiMH batteries are those ones that come "pre-charged" They use a better chemistry and last a lot longer in terms of number of charges and how long they can hold a charge when left sitting around.

If you can find Eneloops or the Duracell brand with the white top inset, then that's even a better bonus.
