.Seriously though, who wants this?
The average person buying a Wii for the first time as 2011 comes to a close could care less that GCN compatibility has been removed. The people that cared about GCN compatibility (Or would have GCN controllers around that they might like to use for a few Wii games), by and large, bought one years ago.
Most people buying these things aren't even going to be aware they're buying a revision since it looks so similar to the original and twould've never even used the GCN features of the thing (And thus, won't even know such features were eliminated). That's precisely why Nintendo has trimmed these features to cut cost.
This wasn't intended for people like us. It was intended for those last few holdouts in the general public that might finally get spurred on to buy one of these things when it hits $99 next year and play a few games (The same reason the $20 Nintendo Selects line exists), and to prepare the Wii for a future as Nintendo's budget priced entry level gaming console when the WiiU takes over the reigns as Nintendo's premier home console.
It makes sense.
