I’d like to personally congratulate Konami on completing a goal it seemingly set out to accomplish several years ago. It has finally shat on the last clean piece of the Silent Hill legacy with its Silent Hill HD Collection. Truly, this is a marvel to behold, and proof that when Konami sets out to f**k something up, it makes sure to do a good job!

Personally, I thought it was almost impossible to ruin Silent Hill 2, which happens to be my favorite game of all time, but I was very wrong. Impressively, Konami has been able to take the best survival horror game ever made and render it almost unbearable to play thanks to the new voice actors found in the HD Collection. These are the kind of actors you’d find voicing PlayStation One games. Yes, I know we all thought they’d died out in the great “Shitty Voice Actor Fire of 2002,” but it seems Konami kept these amazing talents a secret, just for this very special occasion.

I never knew Silent Hill was the great horror game that it was because of the voice acting. I couldn't stand it...what little of it there was.
I dont even think the 1st game had any.

Most people I read are saying it was horrible and they made it worse.

Big deal. I don't get the logic. If something is bad...I myself will happily have no memory of it.

What I'm pissed off about? Not getting the 1st game included in the collection cause for me the first two games were the best followed by the 3rd (good but not great).

All "downhill" after that.

I watched the comparison at the end. I didn't think the voices were much worse except for maybe Maria in the jail cell. The original was much better there.

I didn't think it was horrible. Certainly not something worth writing an article or bitching over.
However, I would have liked a remastered version of the first one instead of last generation games that don't look bad.

The first Silent Hill has always been the best one. That is especially true for those of us that played it before DC and PS2 because, I will admit, the graphics have not aged very well. Leaving the first game out of a Silent Hill Collection is easily the biggest mistake. Bad voice acting doesn't come even close. I will admit that I like the original voice acting better but poor voice acting has always been a staple of Silent Hill. I think most fans of the series expect it.

I think I liked the new voices better....mind you they have not added any music or sound fx in the new audio yet.

I dont think it looks too bad. I personally was the biggest fan of silent hill 4 though. Also I am happy about the new movie theyre releasing, I really enjoyed the first.

I must say though, the Silent Hill game for the PS Vita looks terrible. Who thought it would be a good idea to make it a multiplayer only top down style game. That basically removes the horror concept instantly when you make it a top down style game.
