Just picked up a Jaguar on craigslist. 10 bucks! Came with a game, and two controllers. She said it worked when I picked it up, but I could tell it had been gathering dust a long time. So maybe it worked great in 1995, but I got it home and every game I put in was RSOD, except Wolfenstien- which didn't go red, but just sat at the Jaguar logo with no spinning cube after. I checked the pins and they werent broke or bent, so I cleaned them several times doing the credit card trick. Still same results. I took it apart and opened it up- Bit dusty so I blew it out. I noticed a touch or rust near where you connect the RF unit, but otherwise everything looked normal.

Perhaps water damage? Is there anything I can do to salvage this? I dont have soldering experience, so thats out the window unless I mail it somewhere.

Continue douching the cartridge port. Credit card isn't going to do jack if the contacts have some oxidation on 'em. Spray some contact cleaner on a Q-Tip, swab out one of your cartridges and insert it while still wet into the Jag several times. With the power off of course. Let it sit for a while so it dries and then give it a shot...

Also another trick you can do is when you put the cartridge in push it foward just a tad when you start it so that the contacts can spark if that works then as save2600 said the contacts need some work to them you can even use alchol diluted with a little water. But the credit card trick wont work if the contacts are badly corrodid. You literaly will need to scrape them 1 bye 1 with quetips or toothpicks.

Not to play 'vulture' here but if it ends up completely kaputzed and you can't fix it, I'll take it off your hands for what you paid for it plus shipping. :)

Interesting, I think I will try this after I re-clean it- I will let you all know what happens!

HELP! Jaguar RSOD!

Welcome to the Jaguar...

But yeah as mentioned, contact cleaner and something appropriate to spray it on and work the contacts without bending them or leaving residue. i.e. not a paper towel. :P

My Jaguar had the occasional RSOD.... I went the most expensive way to fix it and bought a JagCD. Haven't had the problem since

Did everything each of you suggested. No go.... Upon further inspection, i removed the motherboard from the bottom metal shield. The paper underneath had ripples, and the metal sheet had rust.
Looks like this thing had water damage pretty bad at some point :( Im going to keep the controls and game as they still work. Think I will take my chances and sell it "as is/scrap" to someone on ebay who is interested.

pssst.....I'll take it off your hands......no eBay fees..... :ponder: I've never been able to repurpose a dead Jaguar because there's so many out there that just plain still work. I've been looking for a dead one for a while to tinker!
