According to the Nintendo Press Event last night, the Slider add-on will be priced at $20 and be powered by a single AA battery. Release date is December in Japan but no release date given for North America.

Games that will support it are Monster Hunter 3G, RE: Revelations, Ace Combat, Metal Gear Solid, Dynasty Warriors VS, and Kingdom Hearts. It was also announced that Kid Icarus is delayed until 2012 and speculation has the reason being that the game is undergoing redesign for Slider add-on support.

Maybe this device will be a great addition but right now I'm totally unimpressed with Nintendo's plan. Time will tell.....

This add-on is kinda nice in that it will make the system a little bit wider which is ok for longer play sessions. Having two sliders is about time too.
This may make Kid Icarus a little more playable as the talk by people who've played it say that the controls needed some work.

Somebody in the NintendoLife comments made a good point: This device is meant to be an add-on, not a fix like some shoddy journalists are claiming it to be.

So far, 3rd party companies have responded positively to the device, so that's probably a good sign.

Judging from these pics, it actually looks pretty comfortable: http://kotaku.com/58...expansion-thing

I'm failing to see the difference in this particular case. I guess when the next 3ds revision is released, we'll see which it was?

Wao, it's not often that when I come back to the boards after some prolonged time off that I read shocking news about a system redesign or even worse talks about a successor which would mark the current 3DS as a failure. And all that after it's growing on me and I'm looking forward to the titles already announced.

I'm just hoping the other guy proves to be right and they just get out that second controller as optional.

For the price cut Ninty is making up giving early adopters around 20 games for free in the eShop. I can live with that. Should the 3DS get a major shift away from its core features (which the 3D is), I'd strongly disagree.

I would hope that the 3DS doesn't end up looking like this before they decide to release the newest hardware revision.....

The extra set of shoulder buttons/triggers looks interesting, haven't heard much about them or their future use.
I just noticed today, though, that the 3DS unit in the promo shots of this slide pad attachment isn't an actual production model; the paint finish is wrong. It looks all nice and matte instead of glossy & cheapo. Where can I get THAT 3DS?

I seen some more photo's of the 3DS expansion slide pad online and its bigger then you would think. I don't care but I can see some not liking that one bit. Anyone know if they will have it in green/blue or red to match with the 3DS or just black ?
