Hi Everyone,

Now that Ed has released the source code for Halo 2600, I thought a cool idea would be to create the Master Chief sprite out of the actual source code. Not sure if this idea has been done before, so if it has let me know.

That said, I whipped up a quick poster based on this concept. Note that this is not the full source code. I just took a snippet and repeated it. I haven't yet figured out how to determine the size/spacing of the text to make all of the code copy fit the sprite blocks, but I'll be working on it.

In the meantime, any feedback is welcome.

Thanks!
Brian

Very cool! It would be neat to give a framed copy to Ed as thanks for all his work! :) It might even be a print Al would sell in the store! :D

I've created the Halo 2600 source poster, using Adobe InDesign. I've attached a JPEG and PDF (PDF is actual size of 24" x 36") of the poster, which still needs some minor tweaks.

This contains the full source code (including code comments) for the Halo 2600 game.

Thanks, Al. I'd like to add the "Halo 2600" logomark to the poster. Do you have a high-res version?

How did you do that, that has to be one of the most clever ideas I've seen recently. This site is just full of creativity!

Can you work with a scan? I can do a high-res scan of my HALO cart and box for you.

PM sent, but the scanner I use sucked, so I bet they won't work. Al likely has the actual vector image which will be much easier to use. :)

Not sure I have a vector version, but probably have it at 600dpi. Brian, no need to send me a PM, I'll look tonight.

The scans I sent were supposedly 1200 DPI, but the scanner is one of those asinine all-in-ones, so you can guarantee it's probably around 300dpi at best. Given the file size was around 2MB tops, it's pretty much a guarantee it's 300dpi max. Can't even change the settings on the damn thing -- it's just the one my wife uses with our Kodak printer. I've got a Canon LiDE around here somewhere that I used to use, and I could change just about anything on that thing, but it's not hooked up. Yours will definitely be better than my poor attempt at scanning.

If these do end up as part of the pantheon of the AA store, I'll buy one for sure.

Finally got a full-size version of the poster printed. I started a new thread with some pics here.
