Ok, so my brother and I are trying to remember a game we used to play on the 800XL. I'm afraid I can't give too many details, but here's what we have:

This was a side-scrolling game and you flew through caves. The left side "wall" sort of chased you down. What made it hard was that sometimes you had to double back in some of the smaller caves, and if you weren't fast enough, the entrance got sealed off and you had to kill your self.

Any ideas? Again, I know it's not much to go on, but any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

No, not Zepplin. It was a horizontal scroller where the left side wall closed in on you. The key to this game was that there was a central "artery" that you'd fly down...through the middle of the screen. And water (or something like that) was coming in behind you.
sometimes, there would be smaller caverns on the top or bottom of the screen...if you went in them, there was stuff in there that got you more points, but if you didn't get back in time, you'd be blocked.

Have you looked here:

Shoot'em Up! - Horizontal Scrolling

You might recognize one of the screenshots.

Yeah, I did that and I sent that link to my brother. Unfortunately, neither of us saw anything that rang a bell. :(

Either I'm getting old or this is a completely obscure game with no dump available.

Android Attack or Bootleg only match part of the description so I doubt that would be the answer...

They don't look familiar but I'll run those by by bro and see what he says.
