So earlier today I picked up a copy of Cannon Fodder at the swap meet, game was still sealed in its box. Just tried it out for the first time and it red screens, tried cleaning the contacts with some 99.9% alcohol and still nothing. Anyone have any suggestions on getting it to work or do you think I'm SOL? I'm super bummed as I've wanted this game ever since I got my Jag. :( Another thing I maybe should mention is that there is no Atari logo on the back of the cart like every one of my other carts, is this normal or could this be a pirate cart?

Most (all ?) third-party games don't have the Atari logo on the back of the cartridge ; this is normal.

Do you have a JagCD ? If so, try plugging the game into the JagCD cartridge port instead ; it seems to have fewer contacts problems.

Ok thats good to know, it struck me as so strange when I first saw it I wasn't sure what to think.

Sadly I don't. I want one but its hard to justify one to myself. :/ So you think the issue is with my Jag? :(

Get a pencil eraser and softly rub it back and forth on the Cannon Fodder contacts then wipe off and try it...

What happens with other carts in your Jag?

Immediately after it failed to work I plugged in doom as it always works flawlessly and it fired up first time no problem(haven't tried any other games as at the time that satisfied me that I hadn't damaged my Jag, though I'll try them all when I get off work tonight). After that I tried out Missile Command and it also red screened but after taking it out and trying again it worked, it seems to be kind of finicky and works randomly though it red screens infrequently it still does it.

I'll give the eraser a try, though its gonna be a bitch getting in there without opening the cartridge, which I'm not even sure how to do.

Get an actual pencil with an eraser on the end, it fits faitly well (you may need to trim it a tad)

I've got plenty laying around the house, thanks for the tip. I'll post again in here once I've tried it after work.

I had trouble with one of my NIB games I bought off ebay a few months ago...I ended up cleaning it with no luck...so I kept it in the system on with the red screen of death for like 15 min...turned off and back on and it worked perfectly ever since.

Haven't sat down and tried yet. Things have been happening recently that are eating up a lot of my time. Going to try today.

Just got it working. :D Tried the eraser idea first and had zero luck with that so I tried a suggestion the.golden.ax gave me of sanding off the edges of the PCB so the cart could be moved side to side a bit and it worked! Takes the game a little longer to fire up but it works. It sits on the Jaguar screen for quite a while longer then my other games and after a while rather then going red the little atari logo comes down.   Now to give it a try.
