I have a Master System that has a finicky power connector port. When the A/C adapter is plugged in, the connector has to be pressed up in a specific direction in order for the system to recognize power is there. I know it's not my A/C adaptor as I have tried multiple ones and it demonstrates the same problem. I'm guessing there's some sort of connection problem on the system itself, but am not sure.. What generally is the cause for this sort of activity, and what is the fix (if fixing it is possible)? I've had this occur on other systems in the past, but I have never bothered looking into fixing it.

It sounds like it is the port on the actual console that is coming unsoldered. My friend had the same problem with his Genesis 2 console. To fix it I resoldered the port and also carefully reinforced the plastic to the PCB with bonding loc-tite bonding glue.

If the soldering is accessible without removing the connector, just reheat any solder pad while pressing the connector against the PCB. Do it as soon as possible, it isn't good for your SMS to have a dodgy power contact.

Cheers,
