I just picked up my first Colecovision. The problem is when I turn the console on the character always moves to the left. At first I thought it was a bad controller port or bad controller but I tested the controllers on an Atari and they work reasonably well. I believe the problem is in the console itself because the controller doesn't even have to be plugged in. When I turn the power on the title screen comes up and a few seconds later, the game starts without having press any buttons. If I push the joystick all the way to the right the character will go right, but as soon as I let go It goes back to the left... Has anyone else encountered this problem. More importantly, has anyone been able to fix this problem?

I am not super tech savvy but I have repaired some NES's etc. anyway, I'm willing to give it a shot. After all I can't play it the way it is right now...

At least the power switch is fine and the picture looks really good. Even the expansion module works!
