The fact that there was so much crappy shovelware games, it is just weird i havent seen any yet, or at a garage sale yet. Maybe it will change when the WiiU comes out or a little after that?

Have any of you guys seen Wii (or PS3/360) games at Goodwill/Thrift/Garage sales?

Maybe these games go to Shopgoodwill.com?

I've seen few, and I mean very few, current-generation games at thrift stores. Usually they're outdated sports titles.

I think you're right that Goodwill probably auctions off whatever they get, but I bet a lot of it is due to GameStop and other stores. As ubiquitous as used video game stores are, it takes just as much effort to drive to the nearest GameStop as it does to the nearest Goodwill, and GameStop gives you money. Maybe only a buck or two, but hey, that pays for the gas you burned if nothing else.

No wii games at my thrifts either. Honestly not too many wii games would interest me at current thrift shop prices $$, anyway.

Tons of wii-cessories though. I'd imagine the situation will only get worse as they accumulate bins of yellowing plastic golf clubs and bowling balls.

I have seen some DS, 360, PSP and PS3 items. (some of the PSP stuff was damn good too). I passed every one of ~20 DS games that I saw just yesterday--they were mostly pet related, with a crossword and a brain training game in the mix. ($5 each is a bit rich for 'I cans ride Poniez')

The 'no refunds or exchanges' thrift shop in my area has two "untested" 360's for $50 each that nobody's been brave enough to take a chance on. They've been there for weeks.

I've seen lots of XBox360 games, lots of PS3 games, but only 1 or 2 Wii game per month. I don't think Gamstop is the main reason for this or other games would be scare as well. I think it's because Wii has less crapware than other consoles.

DS games is even rarer around here than PSP. FOr every 20PSP games I see (almost always sports and crap), I see one DS game. DS game is often case and manual only, no cart :x

Goodwill here gets targets store returns. I habe seen tons crap games for wii, 360 and ps 3. Mostly scene it and the mel b excercise games. They also had lots of 2-3 year old sports games.

I recently got Lego Batman at Goodwill for $6.99 and 3DS Ridge Racer at another GW for $19.99. I also saw PS3 Spiderman at GW for $14.99.

I see this generations games at the Goodwill, but the one I live closest to has a locked case at the front where they are located. Never are they located where the other games are found, and they are priced higher than what they would be at a Gamestop.

The prices for the slightly older stuff is decent enough for me to keep coming back though.

It may be due to cost. I mean, the wii's library is almost entirely made of crapware. But when you think about it, it's crap is still typically sold for $5-$20. PS3 and Xbox 360 is already worth very little, even to dedicated game stores. I* have a suspicion that many Wii games are simply getting tossed.

I've seen only a few (perhaps 1 or 2) Wii titles at thrift shops in the past year; I don't recall the specifics. I've seen a few more Xbox 360 titles, and nothing for the PS 3.

As others have noted, the vast bulk of what shows up for any system is older sports games. The PS 2 and original Xbox are the most represented systems -- with the very occasional PSX game and even rarer N64 and Genesis cartridges.

I was in Portland, Maine a few weeks ago, and one local Goodwill had a whole shelf full of Guitar Hero/Rock Band guitars. I did not see any consoles or other hardware at that store.

There are plenty of used Wii games at my local Gameplop. Same rip off as with everything else they sell used, only a few dollars less than new.

I live a small town with only around 6000 people, and there are used Wii every weekend for $50-60. One guy had 3 he was selling for $20/each -- and no one would buy them. The games are $1-5. There are far more Wii in my town than people who want them.

Everyone who ever wanted a Wii already bought one. Many people who bought one no longer want them. The people keeping their Wii don't need their neighbor's unwanted Wii. I doubt the Wii will be worth much in the second-hand market even in 20 years.

Thats almost too good of a deal to pass up. Even as a Netflix player alone, the Wii is worth more than what one could get a used Genesis for. While I can't see the Wii being worth a ton much in the next 15 years or so, until it loses Netflix capability there is still going to be some interest on the classic market. One will hope to find a Wii in 10 years loaded full of VC games. Honestly, the Wii could be more coveted that its rivals of this generation since PS3 and 360 are so dependant on being online, and in the future the servers are sure to be shut down making some of there charms useless.

Wii probably has the best chance of keeping everything purchased available, but piracy is the only way to totally ensure continued access to content. (luckily it's rampant) Maybe our license to this content expires eventually, and they just haven't bothered to ammend their user agreements to notify us yet. No reason they should, we've already agreed to let them change anything at any time. Sorry, I've been operating under the assumption that gaming companies are as evil as possible for a while now--hopefully it's totally unwarranted.

Do people still have access to their xbox1 downloadable games? (without resorting to non-legit means)

Maybe you should stop playing bad Wii shovelware, and start playing good Wii games.

And saying that the whole concept of the Wii is based on crapware is complete nonsense. It's not Nintendo's fault that most 3rd parties can't make good games.

And let's not forget that the PS2 had this same problem years ago.

No loose Wii games yet, but I've seen third party accessories and controllers in good numbers that must have fallen off the back of a truck somewhere ;)

I'll see the occasional PS2 or XBox sports game once in a while too. Can't say I've even seen any PS3 stuff yet though.

i agree that ps2 had some truly awful shovelware. but the wii has taken it to a whole other level.
i think it's the popularity of the wii, nintendo's licensing policies or it's appearance as a kid's console but i can;t go anywhere without seeing stacks of dreck on the shelves. stores that never sold video games before are selling wii games - they even sell them in local gas stations. there's no reason for 3 wii games based on m&m's. who needs videogame version of chuckie cheese. what kind of person buys a videogame about making coldstone icecream. why are there 500 wii games with the word "party" in the title?
i'd say 70-80% of wii titles are created just to trap birthday shopping grandmothers.

Woah, I'd buy a spare for $20. Could set it up in the bedroom as a small emulation machine, then gut it for parts if/when my main Wii craps out.

I haven't seen video games in a thirft store in a while now at all. I do see more Wii then anything else in the flea markets, pawn shops, and yard sales then anything else though. It is always what you would think you would see though. Barbie's Fun House and Learn to Dance with Baney, that kind of thing. I haven't seen anything I would want to buy for the Wii in a long time now.

The only gaming junk I see at thrift stores is usually bundled up in a case, with a raffle number assigned to it -- not for sale.
