My son just called me and said that Nintendo released the 10 Free Ambassador Program games a day early and he's been downloading them for the last hour. He said that to view them you have to go to the eShop, click on settings - downloads and there they are!

Just thought I'd pass the word.

I didn't look at everything but it did have Mario zelda and etroid. I mean, I know we were told that'w what it would be, but I didn't really think Nintendo would do those particular ones (in preference to selling instead), cool.

Each game requires 30ish blocks (how many doe sthe 3DS have anyways?)

Oh yeah, incase anyone missed it, the first gamesare
Super Mario Bros
Metroid
ZeldaWrecking crew
NES Open tournament golf
DKjr
Balloon Fight
Ice Climber
Zelda II
Yoshi

they run from the SD card, only DSiWare is saved on the system memory. I still have over 9,000 blocks left on the included 2 gb sd

the question is, how long do we get to keep them?

Who knows? Till the system dies or the service is no longer supported?

It acts like any other download service I've used (which isn't a lot, admittedly)
Nintendo just credited your account as if you had "purchased" the games, and you can "redownload" them.

Thing that gets me is the Ambassador ticket is a download, and is bigger than any four of the games, but it's just a picture of a ticket with some scrolling text LOL.

I'm assuming forever. I can't imagine them going away anytime soon.

As long as you don't delete these, they will remain on your 3DS. There's no reliance on the servers for these titles... unless of course, you've deleted them and want to redownload them.

They are tied to system's serial number so unless you toss aside broken 3DS, you can keep the game for many years. If you send the broken 3DS to Nintendo for repair, and they send in replacement console instead, they should transfer the account info to new serial number.

If you deleted them from your 3DS, you should be able to re-download them from eShop until the day Nintendo closes eShop to 3DS owners. Perhaps in a decade? But there's really no reason to delete anything. The 2GB card that came included is a lot of space and if you only downloaded the games you liked, you probably won't run out of room anytime soon. Unless you also take a lot of pictures.

I did hear something: Nintendo will eventually make that 10 NES games available for sale to non ambassador later but GBA will remain ambassador exclusive for the time being.

Well, if you're like me, you use your 3DS as an MP3 player. Songs can take up lots of space.

From what I can tell, you can just slap another SD card in, and re-download your games onto there. I may need to do that in the future.

You could probably just straight copy 'em to the new card, since it's the same system & all.

Maybe, but it's probably safer not to tamper with it.

No tampering necessary; just copy the files. :) The originals are unaffected / not tampered with.

Does 3DS support SDXC? If not, then you're limited to max 32GB SD cards.

 Me too  But that would be cool. (isn't the XC format rated for 64GB up to 2TB, though at the moment 64GB is the only one available)

Yeah, it goes to a theoretical 2TB.

SDHC cards also go up to 2TB, but are actually limited to 32GB due to the SD 2.0 specification they use: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SDHC#SDXC
