Out of ALL the numerous ports of WB/AV out there including arcade, which version is the best all around?

As for myself, nothing tops the original sms version.

in terms of ports of the original game, i'd have to say the SMS version. But that said, I think it's a rubbish game.

No, not ports of just the original. I'm talking, out of every WB/AI game ever made. Maybe I should have specified more. :ponder:

I don't know, that's a pretty open-ended question.. None are really similar to one-another. I like all of them, but my personal favorite is the original SMS one (I even like it more than the arcade game). I prefer that straightforward arcade-like gameplay. For the record, I enjoy the Adventure Island series more, as it stayed closer to its roots (Wonder Boy) much longer than the Wonder Boy series did.

The Wonderboy sequels on the SMS and MD were a lot of fun. I also liked Super Adventure Island 2 on the SNES.

Adventure Island 2 and 3 for NES were great adventure platformers. Fans of the original should check out new adventure island on PC engine/TG16. It's very similar to the original game with just enough tweaks to make it feel, well, new. :P

Yeah, I've played the TG16 version(emu) and it definately is a great port. Just wish I could find a copy of it for a cheaper price than what it goes for..sheesh!

The only one I actually have is Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap. I can say I enjoy it, but I don't have any of the others to make a comparison with.

They have the TG-16's New Adventure Island for wiiConsole. Great game! I would say it's my favorite. It has the game play of WB1/AdvI1 with updated graphics. The SNES's Super Adventure Island just moves soo slow.

Yeah, as a fan of them all, I'm going to have to go with any SMS game (endearing and my first experience with series), New Adventure Island on TG16, and Super Adventure Island on SNES in that order for top three. [edited] The first Super is the good one, not so sure on the second, I've actually never played it (all these years thought I did, but it was the first).

Yeah, it is. It's a completely different style of pacing, but it's awesome. Too bad it's not that difficult and it's short.. Still, if I include the AI games with the WB games, I'd have to say that SAI is my favorite.

Wonderboy in Monster Land for the SMS was always my favorite. Loved that game! When everyone else was playing SMB I was playing that.
