OK, this may be a total waste of time, or might lead to some neat light gun games for the coleco. Here is a quick youtube video showing what i'm trying todo with this experiment, and for all i know this might be dead in the water right off the bat as i dont have much experience with Light gun technology.

Get the Test Rom here: You will need to test on a real coleco, plugged into a CRT tube based TV, not a lcd, led or plasma.
Coleco LightGun Test Rom

Above is a quick video showing a Light Gun test rom i created to see if it's possible to get a Sega Master System Light Gun to work on a Coleco vision. It turns out you must have a CRT tube based TV to test this and i dont have one anymore so i can not tell if this experiment will work, so i thought i'd share the rom to see if anyone can get this to work.

How to test: Run the rom on a coleco, plugged into a CRT tube based TV, and point the Sega master system light gun at the 4 different boxed and click the fire button on the gun and see if you get different joy1 values on screen. if so please send a video or screen shots to help see if light games are possible on the coleco. This may be a very flawed test but i figured it never hurts to try. This will not work on LCD. LED or plasma TV's, why i'm not really sure other then it has to do with the scan lines that only a CRT tv can produce.

PLEASE NOTE: Try this at your own risk, i dont know if any damage can occur to your coleco by plugging in a sega master system light gun into the coleco's joystick ports. This is just an experiment and i have no idea if this would even work. just something fun to try.

I've just watched your video... Well, I can't help in any way because I don't have my AtariMax cartridge and I don't have a light gun. And in the case that the flicker and gun combination doesn't work, maybe just a tiny adapter will do the trick to register something interresting to be used.

The question of a lightgun for ColecoVision was raising at least once in the forums on AtariAge and DigitalPress too. The guy made the circuit to generate something like UP direction when detecting the light source. Unfortunately, the project kinda stopped... well it seems to have been stopped long ago.

Thanks for the info! No idea if it will work, but i figured why not and if it gives someone something fun to test for a little while then great. I was so let down after i created the test rom and then found out i cant test it because all my Tv's are LCD. I sadly gave away my 2 CRT tv's and now have no way to test. I'm hoping to find a small tv at a thrift store in the next few weeks to test on.

Ok, I'll bite... Stand by, setting up now. :)

Part 1 of 2... Youtube!

(Part 2 is uploading! Link to come in a few minutes-- as if you're all sitting on the edge of your chairs to see it as I upload it! lol)

Edit 2: Just search for "ColecoVision LightGun Test part 2" if you wanna see my findings. :) I'll post the link later, but have to run right now, and it says it's gonna be 15 minutes to upload and process... sorry I can't hang around longer right now folks!) Also, there is no 'control' in this experiment (IE I didn't connect the gun to the SMS before or after to prove functionality! That will have to be later today-- but the gun DID work last time I used it. :)
