Ok so I got this today and I just started playing the 3d version, so how the hell do I do it? because I seem to be pretty horribly shit at it lol, I mean I'm pretty good at most games imho but on this I'm pretty poor, I get that you have to lead the target but aren't there lasers you can use? I just seem to have the same missiles simply firing from 3 different turrets, even if I press 1,4 or 7, 3, 6 or 9 etc it just does nothing, am I missing something or should I be playing the Virtual version? cheers

lol, imo the 3D version pretty much sucks. Probably an afterthought... but if you read the manual I think it gives you some tips in regard to upgrading your cities, weapons .etc.

The Virtual mode is easily my favorite variation on the cart. Just be sure to conserve your bombs because you need alot of them in the last level.

A somewhat related fact for those that don't know: MC3D was programmed by martin brownlow, who later enjoyed a fair bit of success in the industry. He worked on MDK, Enter the Matrix and After Burner: Black Falcon to name a few. Very talented and I think it shows in Missile Command Virtual Mode :)

cool think I'll give virtual mode a try I've not done that one yet, I was a bit disappointed with the 3d version but I am patient so I will give it another go. Nice bit of info about the programmer, I did really enjoy old MDK

I suck at every variation of the game... It's an interesting concept but one I can't play

I reckon it'll be the same for me, I'm not fast enough, maybe if the game had a thumbstick it would be a bit more reasonable to play?

I just got this game a few days ago as well. All in all it controls well IMO. It takes some getting used to in terms of leading the shots though, as your missiles come out pretty slow in the 3D mode. Cursor movement seems fast enough (not sure how it is in later stages when things are more chaotic), and each button acting as each turret works well. Having lasers as the base weapon in Virtual mode is a nice alternative too, and I was also surprised at how well the original Missile Command controls.

Anyone have any tips for [properly] using the stock missiles/bombs in Virtual mode?

Well,

I made it simple and NEVER really played the MC-3D version, only the retro-version and the virtual version. After a few tests had shown that the 3D version is crap, I skipped it forever and merely played the virtual version, up to level 8 or 9 I think. I never finished the virtual version, but thanks to a cheat I did see the end of the game (which was not that spectacular). I always wished the virtual version to have more levels, because it was so fun with a pro-controller, but alas there were only ten levels...

Now that you mention it, I can't think of a single Jaguar game that features a remotely memorable ending.

Kasumi Ninja comes closest for pure shock value of the pre-end boss, but that's not really the ending lol.

Well,

I think the Hover Strike cart did have a nice end - when you lost, as well as when you won the game (of course Hover Strike UL also had a nice end). Alas, I do not remember any more Jag cart. games which did have an animated end (most carts had only a picture)...

Flashback has a nice animated ending. Pitfall: The Myan Adventure also has a short animated ending, and fairly funny as well. The Marine ending in AVP, while not animated, has a nice multi-screen ending. But ya, most of the good intros and endings for the Jag are on the Jag CD, with Iron Soldier 2, Blue Lightning, Battlemorph, Highlander and Hover Strike: UL. When released, Soul Star will have a pretty sweet intro and ending as well.

Missle command 3d to me was one of the easier jag games think i beat it in normal mode in around 45 minutes. That was the virtual missle command mind you it was fun as hell the boss rush is the nice effect boss for every stage. The actual missle command 3d game was pretty cool aswell you just have to mark the timeing right when you shoot the missles also change missle bases the right missle base shoots way faster then the middle one one you master useing the diffrent missle turrents its becomes easier.
