Hey folks,
I worked out a neat way of merging files in As/Ed without having to worry about the line numbering overlapping:

  • load the first file
  • type REN 0
  • all lines are now numbered 10.
  • Then merge the 2nd file using ENTER#D:filename.asm,M
  • type REN
  • the 2nd file appears at the end of the first

was this known or did I find something new after all these years? Medal please :D

What wonders me most is the reason what brought you to it to actually try this :-)

Should try that with MAC/65 but I don't think it allows duplicate line numbers when using REN.

With Mac-65 you can save and enter unnumbered programs, so this technique wouldn't be needed.

This is true for the cartridge version but I'm not sure this also works with the disk based version.
