This colecovision lot popped up on craigslist. What would be a fair offer?

So the other day I noticed this colecovision lot on my local craigslists, guy is asking a crazy amount for it, $1,000 which is obviously not happening, but I'd like to make an offer on it in case he isn't completely insane, what would be as fair/realistic amount to offer him?

Might want to ask if he has boxes for any/all the games. If he has the boxes making all the games listed CIB then $1000 would be a good deal.

If it is just loose carts/carts with manuals then I think that with everything pictured (plus games listed) is worth about $200, and I don't think $300 would be a screwing. Too bad it is a big stack of Tan controllers and not black ones, or I would want to go in on it with you.

Edit:

I think that may be a system I sold or refurbished for the seller. The A/V cord and controller ball knobs have me curious.

I keep looking back over the cart list and my offer keeps going up. There could be a lot of value in some of those telegames carts depending on condition and there is a Tank Wars, that I am curious about. Probably not a Grand but $500 might be reasonable

I dunno ... if Tank War is a legit copy and not a bootleg and also if Boulder Dash is in great condition and work...,. those 2 carts worth more than $200 alone
If all loose carts, something around $500 would be a great deal

That's a helluva lot of ColecoVision goodies... especially Tank Wars and Boulder Dash!!! Lots of rare games that cost a pretty penny even loose, but if they don't include the boxes, than $1000 is a crazy price. As long as everything is in working order (and depending on what carts have boxes since you can't tell from the pic), I would say that $400 would be more in line.

Why do people put $1 on the header of craigslist ads?

Damn... thats a lot more then I was hopping it would be worth. :/ Not sure I could bring myself to pull the trigger on that much, I have no real idea of the value of this stuff so I guess I was just being super optimistic that he was just crazy. :P Oh well, as much as I'd love a colecovision but that is just way out of my league money wise atm, might try just asking him what he'd want for the console, expansion module and a couple games.

You have to choose something to put in the craigslist header and you can only put a dollar amount so if you are selling tickets or something it can be confusing to put a price and then say oh it is for each ticket or something. So nobody really uses it and describes exactly what the cost is in the description

Even at $500 it would be a steal!

Somone willing to flip the money invested could simply start selling Tank War and Boulder Dash on ebay and I'm sure there's people that would go crazy about them
I'm sure Pixelboy would be more than happy to pay $100 for a working Boulder Dash (If label is great too)

Selling a the CV system with some common games would sell about easily $75

Selling the whole lot of 24 tan controller for around $50 - $75

And so on.....

I think we would ALL like to pay $200 for this lot, but that would be a steal .... not a deal!
Let's face it, who would not want to pay a Wiz Math CIB for $50 bucks?
What we would like to pay and what things is worth is 2 completely different things

This lot can aslo hide some super rare cart variations .... that few people are aware of ....

This lot is worth $500 to $600

Boulder dash just sold for $300 something on ebay and if this guy actually has boulder dash and the manual which his ad seems to imply then that cart alone is worth $300.

I already have every other item in that listing so not worth it to me.

I tried to email him and he seemed very confused so he may be a non-english as a first language. Considering Tank Wars and Boulder Dash alone could bring him around $400 or more I think your estimates are small. Remember all the colecovision and accessories alone in working order would be worth around $200

A $1000 is definately a huge profit for him at the extreme end of every price of each item but if he went below $600 I would be real suprised.

Had to take another look at it and I agree with Retroillucid that at a minimum this lot is worth every bit of $500.... BUT, that would be on the high end of dollar amounts and I would want to have pics of EVERYTHING so that I could gauge their condition better.

Too bad the seller didn't put Tank Wars up for auction on eBay and it's more than likely the TeleGames releases.

The only problem with going higher is that you just don't know the cosmetic condition of each and every game. All you have to go on is a picture of all the carts in plastic bags, thrown carelessly in a box. One man's understanding of "MINT" is another man's "VERY GOOD".

The seller really needs to spread all those games out and take multiple pics like he did for the Atari 2600 games and then potential purchasers could feel more confident in paying more. It boils down to spending an extra 15 minutes of your time in order to make more money OR being a little lazy and having to accept less.

Just my two cents.

Oh I understand, I am just stating probably worth. First there is no way I would make a final offer until he showed me a picture of everything I cared about. Second since the email did not go well I guess I would call and talk to him but would possibly only do this purchase in person if he was not going to do paypal or was still confusing.

I do not like Craigslist at all. There are way to many problems and dangers. For all that people complain about ebay it is 10 times safer than doing a craigslist deal.
I don't even sell on craigslist anymore because I would put things for sale and people would email me their life story about how they are down on their luck and it would be great if I could sell it to them for practically nothing. It is such a pain.

Even though I havent even got my CV yet that Craigslist add got my heart pounding!

I would say offer the guy $450.00

Ask somebody who trusts you to borrow the money then sell the rare games to make the money back and repay the loan

That way you can have a CV with a large library of games

Not sure if you would want to do that or even have a person you could get the money from, just an idea

I just found out what you meant with the email. Iemailed him as well inquiring about just the colecovision and the expansion module and was met with extreme hostility. Honestly based on that email alone even if I had the kind of money he wants and REALLY wanted that stuff bad there is no way in hell I'd deal with him.

I saw that lot—you and I both live in the San Diego area—and it looked like a sham to me. Nice stuff, but he's been trolling eBay (and possibly other sites) it seems to me, all the while creating an imaginary, inflated price in his head based on some quick research. Lame.
