Can I use a Sega Master System sports pad on a 7800 and not damage it? Any others that can be used besides the obvious, like atari and wico? Thanks.

Original Sega Genesis controllers work for 2600 games and a good chunk of the 7800 library, too. I think it's better than the CX78 joypad but only one button works, so it fails for two button games.

If you have a Harmony cartridge then hold down B while powering on, otherwise it detects it as a paddle and it doesn't work.

There's really nothing else other than actual Atari or aftermarket products. That's what I'm using right now while waiting for a Wico Bat, some CX30 paddles and a CX80 trackball to come in. About 35% of 7800 games require that CX24 two button controller too, so I'm getting a couple of those, too.

I use an Atari cx-22 in trackball mode. I play the trackball modified version of Centipede on it. All other brands, if they work at all, will only work in joystick emulation. I am not too sure of the sega trackballs.

I've heard the Master System trackball at best is incompatible, and at worst could damage/be damaged by the Atari system.
I have a CX-80, it works the same as Rice's CX-22 up there.

I have a Wico Track ball and like it a lot better than the Atari brand one.
