Like it says on the tin (to wearing out a well worn ad slogan) hows about AAer members and or subbers having @atariage email addys

I think it would be somewhat more marketable then something like xxxx@atari.com

Hows about it Mr AA (or any of his minions...i.e moderators)

You could flog them (i.e sell them) for say £10 pound (dunno what that is in usd/euro's) an atariage email

Neat idea but I think you are going to run into a storage issues really fast and the cost of the extra software to just host the email and then the software to filter out the junk . . . its going to get too expensive to quickly

Agreed.

And on top of that more overhead in maintaining the site with troubleshooting email delivery/receiving issues, redundant email servers, mail filtering and AV protection.

It could be a simple email redirect to their existing accounts elsewhere

Email addresses are a dime a dozen, and you get to keep the dime. I think the resources of the site and its owner would be put to better use elsewhere.

I've considered this in the past, but would not want to host it on the AtariAge server for resource reasons. I could put it on another server, but I'm not sure the costs associated with doing so would be made up for with whatever I could charge. Which, considering how many free email services there are, couldn't be very much. A redirect would be very easy to do, though.

A redirect is all I was thinking. I just want the address for the cool factor.

How about a credit card? I think AA'ers should be able to sign up for their own credit cards under Al.

The AtariAge Mastercard: Purchases you make earn points that you can turn in to get things like free magnets, homebrews, and other associated products. 56.9% APR, $1500 annual fee, and of course, the points are only earned at a rate of 1 per $15,000 you spend.

Merely a credit card! Ha! How about a personal line of credit for all AtariAge users, with Al as guarantor, to go with that free email that we can already get from Yahoo, Google, Microsoft, etc?

I'm all for a redirect Im a ham radio op and member of the ARRL (American Radio Relay League) and they offer an email redirect as part of member benefits youcallsign@arrl.net and works quite well sending any emails to that address to an email address you specify.

having an atariage.com one would be nice maybe as a subscriber benefit

Oh, that's what it does. I thought it earned 'fisticuff' hit points. D'oh! Good thing I cancelled that fight tomorrow!
