I had GT, GT2 for the Playstation. The PS2 I bought (fat one) was the GT3 Aspec bundle. I have not played GT since that. I do not have a PS3. I have a 360 and have played both Forza III and Forza IV. I considered buying a PS3 at one time, just for GT5. Glad I didn't. Not because I think GT5 sucks. I have no idea since I've never played it. But I do love the Forza series now.

Finally got an xbox 360, and Forza 4. It feels like fully twice the game GT5 is, even after a year of patches and upgrades. The presentation is just off the charts--slick menus, voice overs, fully fleshed out multiplayer, tons of events. It's polished and feels 'complete' instead of like a bodged together WIP demo. Physics feel a bit more forgiving, which I'm mostly okay with. GT5's physics feel unnecessarily punishing a great deal of the time, while Shift 2 picks a really nice middle ground between them.

I really love this game, though I've still got quite a lot of functionality to adapt to--there is so much to do here.

This new xbox 360 system, on the other hand, is a really annoying piece of junk...

The usual of 'it's too loud and it's too hot' which I had been preparing myself for (why does it vent out the side when vertical?)
  • add to that it was impossible to create an account without attaching a keyboard (literally, it was impossible--as in it wouldn't let me type the period in my email with the onscreen keyboard) :?
  • and then there's the positioning of the HDMI jack, which was pure genius.
  • Having to create a DMZ for it (for seemingly no reason except to shut it up)
  • not a huge fan of the way its menus/stores are laid out, but that's down to taste
Forza 4 on the other hand, just may be my favorite game with cars in it. There is just so much to do in that game that I don't feel pressured into faster and faster racing classes. I think I'm going to stick with class D forever.

your first complaint is simply lack of knowledge/experience. you can type the period with the onscreen keyboard.
what's the problem with the HDMI jack? The only situation where its location may be a problem is if you need to use RCA stereo cables.
you do not have to create a DMZ. there are ports that need to be opened for optimal Xbox Live experience and for that you can use port forwarding or port triggering.
for open ports:

don't worry about learning the new menus, etc. you will have to totally revamp them anyway. everybody will have to relearn the new dashboard anyway (I'm in the beta program and am currently using/learning the new dash). the new dash is a dramatic change. hope you guys have a kinect because the kinect is everywhere in the dash and navigation is so fast with kinect (really really impressive the work they put into it).

forza for me I never did care for gran turismo partly because I've never liked the ps controllers that much and also because GT is just too realistic for my liking I guess?

This thread made me play GT2 on my PS1 tonight. It's still awesome.

the only reason to have the ultimate edition is you want Porsches and a complete huge car collection. or if you're on a budget (though they were selling FM4 for $27 on Black Friday). in pretty much every way, FM4 is a better game. it looks better, it sounds better, the performance profiles of the cars match the real cars better, it has more options, game modes, etc.

not that FM3 is bad. but before FM4 was released, I always felt the Forza series was a little sterile (I've owned Forza Motorsport 1 on the old Xbox1 and played FM3 at the store and in demos). But this is coming from a guy that prefers arcade racers over the sim racers. Why I preferred Burnout, Need for Speed, Outrun, Ridge Racer, etc. But FM4 is realistic and still amazingly fun. So to make a light-hearted racing enthusiast like a sim racing game is pretty amazing.
