Hey AAers.
What songs make you think of a certain game you played? Or it could be vice versa if you like. It doesn't have to be long, long ago (but I would imagine a lot of those kind of nostalgic memories would pop up here).
Me:
Borderline- Madonna
Makes me think of the Sega/Gremlin arcade game "Borderline". The game came out a few years before the song but I hadn't seen the game before the song. Not too many years after hearing the song, I found the arcade game at a beach fun center. So now I think of that game when I hear it. Not a bad game, and I rather like the song to this day.
Also:
Though this isn't an arcade game (in the wrong thread category, so sue me), I remember listening to a tape of The Power Station (their only album) on the way back from Kay-Bee Toys, where I picked up INFILTRATE for the Atari 2600. I was singing along to the song "Murderess" and now that song and the game are inextricably linked in my memory.

I vividly remember songs from Peter Gabriel's album "So" being being played at the arcade in the Mt Shasta Mall around 1986-88

It was like everytime I would pop a quarter into Robotron I would hear Red Rain or Sledgehammer playing softly on the ceiling speakers

When ever I hear a song off that album it takes me right back to the arcade I grew up playing in

Oh hell yeah.

Since the Apple 2 had a beeper, and not much good to listen to, I always listened to stuff while playing, and yah some albums instantly take me back.

Any Iron Maiden, or 5150 and OU812 by Van Halen - Wasteland

Farewell to Kings or Permanent Waves by Rush - Ultima 5

A Momentary Lapse of Reason by Pink Floyd - 2400 AD

BAD by LL Cool J - Might and Magic

The Genesis album with the blocks on it - Zork 1, 2, 3.

Skyscraper by David Lee Roth - Moebius, Black Magic, assorted other games.

I do miss the 80s.

Take Me To the River by Talking Heads reminds me of playing Frogger and Pac-Man at the roller rink

"Push It" by Salt N Peppa reminds me of playing Atari 7800 Xevious. I have no idea why.

"When Doves Cry" by Prince reminds me of playing Atari 2600 Moonsweeper. Weird, right?

"Don't You Forget About Me" - Simple Minds
"Some Like It Hot" - The Power Station
"A View To A Kill" - Duran Duran
"Discipline Of Love" - Robert Palmer
"St. Elmo's Fire" (although I hated that song then, hearing it now takes me back)

All remind me of being 16 and working on my Apple IIc. I used to have a radio in my room that was always on while I was learning how to program 6502 assembler. I also remember picking up many 'Beagle Bros.' disks over a period of time. (I still have them). I wonder what happened to them?

EDIT: Found them :( http://en.wikipedia....ki/Beagle_Bros.

"Sweet Dreams" - Eurythmics. Really reminds me of my Atari 2600 and 5200 days. Q*bert / Defender / Pac-Man etc.

Other songs , right now I can only really think of one - "Heat of the moment" by Asia - remind me of walking around the mall, going from JC Penney's Atari/Intellivision/Colecovision setups to the big arcade.

We used to have a cassette tape called "Hooked on Classics" - it had the most memorable parts of classical music pieces (like Beethoven's 5th, or the Lone Ranger Theme, etc) to a solid danceable drum beat. It was extremely catchy and we would often have it playing in the house on dad's big stereo during the Atari years.

I used to play lots of Gypsy Juggler and Video Pinball right around the time Herb Alpert's "Rise" came out.
Also, I would hear a lot of George Benson's "Give Me The Night" when I was 'crazy' about Crazy Climber.
Journey, Loverboy and Foreigner were really hot at the time the arcades had all the classics: Frogger, Ms. Pac-Man, DK, Galaga, Mouse Trap, Venture, Scramble, and many others from 1980-early 1982.
He he he.. Bette Davis Eyes makes me think of EYES by Rock-Ola.
