It started out as an addition to the GBA port of Link to the Past. Then it went to the Game Cube. Now it's on the DSi/3DS platforms.

I think this game is actually listed as a DSi title, you might could downlaod it to that if you had one. I won't swear though and I'm not in reach of my 3DS so

You are 100% correct. You can download it from either the DSi Ware Channel on the DSi or the eShop Channel on the 3DS. If you own both a DSi and a 3DS, download the game on both and when a friend comes over you are ready for some 2player action!!
