It won't be the same without a wall of sit-down arcade units cranked to full volume : (

This has the potential to be very cool. Hopefully they don't screw it up.

It'd be great to race against 8 linked other racers online ... with AI cars too. I wonder if they'll make a mode where hitting the pit makes good sense? Like a car that is ultra fast but eats gas faster and thus must pit once. *

*probably not

I liked Sega Rally Revo, so I hope this turns out to be as least as good.

Reports are that it's going to cost 10 dollars for download.

I really, really love the Model 3-powered Daytona 2 in the arcade, and will be forever miffed that this never got a home release.
Maybe this will include some of the tracks? The animated parks and such were what really took my breath away in Daytona 2, hope they gimme some of that. As well as the awesome racing game play of Daytona, and the original soundtrack. :)

They will screw it up. Making it a DOWNLOAD ONLY game. Sega, you listening? You are loosing money by not selling physical games!

Never has a company so abandoned me as a consumer since Sega 2000 - 2011. It's been a schitti run.

I like the graphics on Sega Rally Revo, but the car handling is awful. The cars slide like they were on ice or oil slick.
I really wanted to like this game, but every month or so I give up.
There is a Sega Rally 2006 on PS2 import, I think it plays better.

If Daytona USA is downloadable, I will probably not going to buy it.

I don't care. It's DAYTONA FREAKIN' USA.

It may finally convince to get a 360 or PS3.

Use first person mode. It's unplayable any other way, and it becomes awesome when you switch to first person mode.

This game is out on PSN right now. I assume it'll be out on XBLA tomorrow. There's no PSN demo or I would have tried it already.

If the circuits were your prime attraction towards it, you have to check out Outrun 2 for the Xbox if you haven't already. :)

Or Outrun 2006: Coast 2 Coast. The new "SP" courses are very tasty!

Very intriguing! I'm considering it quite seriously, though it'll be tough to decide if I buy the one on Amazon going for $9.95 plus shipping brand new, or the one for $999.95. It's a pretty tough call.... (what on earth are some of those sellers on Amazon doing???)

Edit: Okay, that is the course I'm after, just looked different at first. I'm not seeing the huge red spider monster from Daytona 2, but the rest looks really great.

Thanks for the heads up!

Can't watch the video from here but I'm assuming it's probably one of the ones on 2006: Coast 2 Coast (a little more expensive on the XBOX as it was a late-release), or the XBOX Live Arcade version of OutRun 2/SP/2006, which is worth it too even if you own the others. :)

License fees I'd guess, although at that point NASCAR might have granted console exclusivity to Electronic Arts by that point.

The Daytona 2 bonus course is only available on Outrun 2 for the Xbox. Was stripped out of Coast 2 Coast and Outrun Online Arcade. Also has a bonus course connecting the circuits from Sega Super GT/Scud Race together.

Hopefully this does well and we'll get proper home versions of Daytona USA 2 and Scud Race.

Sega had an exclusive Daytona license into 2000. Then it stopped being non exclusive. That's when Daytona finally started to appear in numerous games (A Hasbro game in 2000 and EA and Sierra releases in 2001, for instance) and it hasn't been exclusive ever since (EA only had an exclusive NASCAR license, initially on consoles and later all platforms, they never had any exclusive licenses with racetracks).

Even Sega reacquired a license after their original expired to do their Daytona USA Dreamcast game in 2001 or so.

Game is out on XBLA! Looks amazing, and the original soundtrack is prominent and sounding better than ever. Probably worth my $10, but I've not bought it yet. The demo feels amazingly short; you get 60 seconds with no extension on any track. Probably no Daytona 2 tracks, but who knows what'll pop up as a secret down the road.

Looks like a strict rework of the original to me, from what I have seen in the canned shots on the XBLA marketplace page. Hopefully I am wrong though. I will probably buy it regardless though, maybe even tonight. Should be fun playing against others online, and maybe I'll figure out how to play it for once. Never did understand how to play properly in the Saturn version "back in the day" and I could never get anywhere in the game, so maybe I can finally learn how.

Apparently Sega is taking a que from that track, and trying to "go away." Where is the Sega of yesteryear? At least it was good enough to enjoy a huge wealth of old games for the rest of my life, sad it couldn't continue.
