I've recently obtained a used red Wii from GameStop and it has quickly become one of my favorite systems. So far I've been enjoying Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, Metroid Prime 3, No More Heroes 2, and Madworld. For a month or so before I got my Wii, I've watched and read a lot of game reviews from various sources. So I have a general idea of what I want, and feel I'm off to a pretty good start, but still have a few questions.

What I don't know about is the online community for games like Goldeneye and The Conduit series. Is it very difficult to find a decent sized game and are they fun to play online? Fun as in less chaotic than the Call of Duty series. So what be the ideal choice between Goldeneye, The Conduit, and The Conduit 2? I was leaning slightly toward Goldeneye because of the splitscreen multiplayer and it can use Gamecube controllers. Though The Conduit is the cheapest, I don't know if people still play online and I don't know what game out of the three is the most fun offline and online.

Also, are there any must have Wiiware titles? I've already looked into the Bit. Trip series and plan on getting Bit. Trip Complete someday when it comes down in price. Lastly, for a platformer I've been wanting to get Donkey Kong Country Returns, Mario Galaxy, and Wario Land: Shake It. Out of the three, what would be best to start out with? Is Donkey Kong Country Returns, which I really liked the most from what I've watched, that insanely difficult and frustrating? I'm not the biggest platformer fan or player. I do enjoy them but I'm not a master.

Any input would be appreciated.

I'd get 'em in this order:
Mario Galaxy 1 and/or 2
Donkey Kong Country
Wario Land

DKC's fun, but you're right about it being frustrating (especially the controls). Wario is excellent, but too short.

You already have one of my favorite Wii titles. Madworld.
Just curious what you think about it.
Can't really offer much advice, I rarely play the Wii these days and other than a game here and there ever few months, haven't for long time.

Thanks for the input guys. I figured Mario Galaxy would probably be best to get first for a platformer. I'll look more into Monster Hunter Tri since I've never played any of the games. Contra and Castlevania Rebirth both look like my type of games. I actually already knew about Contra but not about Castlevania, which I'd probably get out of the two.

So far I've only completed the first area for Madworld. Metroid Prime 3 has taken up most of my play time, but so far I love the game. It's just fun. The controls weren't as bad as what I've read in reviews. The lock on system isn't the best, but I only use it for bigger enemies. I love the game world they created and the whole idea of the game. The game reminds me of The Running Man, Manhunt, Escape From New York, and old B&W comics, which are all things I really like. It was a steal at under $7 at Gamestop.

Monster Hunter Tri has a VERY active online presence. Capcom runs regular tournaments and an active website for the game with a forum and game news reports.

As for the other online games you inquired about:

The Conduit is a pretty good single player experience and I had a lot of fun with it. Online, though, I didn't play much because hacked players dominated the game. Online was very, very active a year ago but I haven't tried it since and have no idea if players are still online.

After enjoying The Conduit so much, I was really looking forward to Conduit 2. But I came away sort of disappointed in it as the single player, while well done, was very short... maybe 5 hours tops. And they changed the main character, Mr. Ford, from a serious "save the world" type of guy to a wise cracking "Duke Nukem" take-off. Online, Conduit 2 is a lot of fun and the last time I was online (maybe two months ago) it was very active. High Voltage is still supporting the online portion with continual game play tweeks, upgrades, and support and there is a good variety of maps.

GoldenEye is a BLAST in single player mode and has a good length of gameplay. Online was very active the last time I looked (a couple months ago) and has a good map variety.

My suggestion..... give GoldenEye a try first as the offline and online is fun.

Also, if you like FPS type games and have Wii Motion Plus, give Red Steel 2 a try. Its a total blast to play and the motion controls are the most responsive and accurate of all the non-Nintendo Wii games I've played. The game by itself can be bought from Amazon for under $15 (not sure what the Wii Motion Plus adapter runs).

Thanks for suggesting Goldeneye first. I bought the limited edition at Wal-Mart that came with a shirt and controller. I really like the freedom they give to tackle an area, be it stealthy or guns blazing. I heard the A.I. was good, but I was very surprised how good it is. I've had only a couple matches online but I really enjoy it so far, friend code is 067194894512 if anyone wants to add me. My friend said he hasn't played his Wii in over a year which surprises me considering how many great games are available for under $10 and $20. Red Steel 2 is on my list of games to get, but for now I'm plenty good.
