It might be time for a broader onlive thread to collect the news, info, and deals generated by their service.

To kick it off, today is the second day of 'THQ sale week.' Every day this week, a different THQ game goes on sale. Today's is Metro 2033 for $5 ($3.50 for subscribers). Yesterday's was Homefront, and there's no word if this week's sale will be in addition to the usual "$5 friday" deal, so there's the possibility for two deals on that day.

I keep tinkering with the idea of getting one of these.

Today is Darksiders for $5 ($3.50 for subscribers)
I probably shouldn't have gone for this one, but I did. Really the free 30 min demo would have felt like enough.

There are a lot of games this gen that I've skipped, that probably aren't worth $3.50

MX vs. ATV Reflex is today's THQ sale title. $5 / $3.50.

Yesterday's title, Darksiders, turned out to be okay for a bit. Eventually I got bored of the combat--and then really what's left? The earlier titles, Homefront and Metro 2033 kicked my butt pretty heavily when I tried to use a controller. I couldn't even clear the tutorial level on homefront, and in multiplayer the knife was my only really successful strategy.

Yesterday I heard a rumor about the onlive console and unofficial steering wheel support that I'd like to check out today. I normally wouldn't, but it came from the official onlive twitter page. FFB?

Red Faction: Guerrilla $5 / $3.50 today.
It's hard for me to stop buying access to these when Onlive is practically it away.

I don't think they really care much care what price they sell access for. I'm going to be on Onlive x number of hours anyway using their resources--that number really doesn't change much no matter how many games I have access to. This is just a (fantastic) way to get extra money out of me. I've done the math, and I've actually spent quite a bit with them this month.

I would have snagged a lot of these deals myself, but my connection with OnLive has been iffy lately. :(

according to the onlive forum I visit, issues are up lately. I haven't been able to get on 100%--it tries to blame my firewall settings when it fails too. That's not a great move.

there's some speculation about some uk users getting sent over here, but I think it's other new users like me attracted by gamestop's deus ex press (which was awesome advertisement). Really all gamestop did was tell me that onlive is actually viable enough to worry about, and has at least a few launch-day AAA releases.

I guess the news this week is that Orcs Must Die hit onlive yesterday, coinciding with the PC release date.

The more recent AvP also joined the 'playpack' list alongside the 2000 release of the same name. It's been available on Onlive for a while, but previously required its own access, and was not part of the playpack.

Last night the GT5 patching process bored me on PS3, so I started up onlive to pass the time until it finished. Never managed to get back to the ps3. 'Evil Genius' isn't a new title by any stretch, but being a PC-only title, I missed out on it until now.

The 2k Games weekend sale just started. Deep discounts on 2k titles like Borderlands (&borderlands GOTY), Mafia II, Duke nukem, a couple sports titles, etc.

I may have to go for Mafia II, even if it has been slightly less expensive in past sales.

Yesterday I started putting together a board so I can easily use keyboard/mouse from my recliner. Bits of it are still on order (mouse holder, adhesive mouse pad), but as-is it's been pretty good for some of the strategy titles on the system.

Mixed news from Onlive today. "$5 Fridays" are ending as of this week, but they're going out with a "$5 Friday" every day this week. Now that's the proper way to break bad news, I suppose.

Really setting a set time for an older game to go on extreme sale really kills sales of all the older titles the rest of the time, so this sale probably needed to go. Actually the reason I haven't spent money getting a "full pass" for split/second is that I figured it would turn up on a $5 friday before too long. Just an awesome title--I rented it for a weekend when I first got the service.

Splinter Cell: Conviction is todays $5 ($3.50 for subscribers) title.

I've been a little less than pleased with Onlive on Sundays though. It seems that for the past couple of them, I have been totally unable to connect with microconsole all day. (PC client seems to work fine). It's a known issue and "they're working on it" but for this whole business model to work, I have to have 99%+ uptime with my chosen connection method, and I just don't. I still count myself a pretty serious fan, but this is a troublesome issue.

Divinity II is today's $5/$3.50 game.

This one really flew under my radar, but it seems to get excellent reviews. Finally an RPG to try out.
keyboard/mouse only on this one, though.

assassin's creed 2 - $5/$3.50 today.

Late yesterday they dropped Deus Ex--might still be on sale. Don't remember the exact numbers but it was something like $34/$26 (typical additional discount for playpack subscribers).

I've been seeing a lot of Deus Ex sales on just about every platform. Is it not doing well? It was a great title--all except the ending, that is.

Today's $5/$3.50 game is MLB 2k10--or some such thing. Last year's 2kgames baseball title. I also noticed that Braid is on sale for about the same price, and the deep discount on Deus Ex continues.

Assassin's Creed 2 (yesterday's sale game) wasn't fun, but I couldn't stop playing it... I think I can blame the interesting plot for that. I must have logged 4 hrs on it, but I really disliked most of that time. Interesting story, neat world, horrible game.

OnLive has a thing going on where they are trying to receive 10,000 Facebook "Likes" in 48 hours. They say that if they manage it, every customer will get 1 full playpass for any priced game for $1.

Awesome. That goal was met pretty early last night, and according to twitter, the codes will be emailed out soon. I haven't decided between Deus Ex: Augmented, Dirt 3 or Tropico 4.

New members get any game for $1 now too (previously it was only old members)
So if you haven't, sign up (free), try some demos (free), and your first game is $1.

and if you have signed up at some point in the past, there's already that $1 code in your email from this morning.

Time to start playing some onlive.

The newest "new" games are Deus Ex, Saints Row 3, some LOTR game and L.A. Noire. Anyone want those for under a buck, I suggest you sign up ASAP. Of course, if you don't want a new game, there are plenty of older titles to choose from.

You may even be able to pre-order a new game with the discount code, but I haven't tried it myself (Arkham City is one of the ones up for pre-order).

I snagged Deus Ex 3 myself. The performance of the service is up for me right now, so maybe I will actually play it..

I think some of those aren't out yet, and these coupons for sure don't work with preorders. But with $1 games, I don't see much reason to hold off on at least trying onlive. It's a great time for it.

For some reason, onlive won't take my gyration wireless keyboard (the set's mouse works fine). I went ahead and built up a wired 'recliner desktop' for myself. Something that stores out of the way.

OnLive offers free access to 4 games for Halloween weekend, & a 5th game (title not announced) on Halloween.

Quote

OnLive wants to say “Happy Halloween” to their members. In doing so, they are allowing gamers to play four games all weekend long absolutely free. Those four games are: Amnesia: The Dark Descent, F.E.A.R 3, Metro 2033, and Orcs Must Die.

They're also running a free console deal with preorder of the new assassin's creed game by the 19th. and no, tekzilla code doesn't work with this one

Edge from the makers of Toki Tori is a game not unlike a cross between Marble Madness and Taipan

and Fallout2

...has been added as part of 3 weeks of Fallout. Both games are available in the Playpack which is a great collection of games on the service available for just $9.99 US a month.
