boxpressed
I just received a Starpath Supercharger with Phaser Patrol. The tape looks fine, but I'd rather use a digital format like MP3 to load the games. That way, I'd just hook my Ipod to the Supercharger. Anyone know if this is possible and if there is a source for MP3s?

boxpressed
You are awesome. Above and beyond my expectations when I started this thread. Wish I could rep you for each one of these files!
boxpressed
Just got it all set up. The cord from the Supercharger plugs right into the headphone jack of my laptop. Fire up Itunes, and in twenty seconds I'm playing the Official Frogger. Nothing new for Harmony cart owners, but this is pretty cool in its own right.
Mark Wolfe
http://www.atariage....2pg-track-list/ http://www.atariage....nversion-hacks/ I was all over this a coupla years ago. use the search engine to find more info/posts. make sure you read through all the posts in both threads. links were updated, Al posted the set on AA and a lot of info on how to mod your supercharger was posted along with other helpful info. Pictures of my setup with iPod & modded supercharger can be seen but I gave that all up when the Harmony cart came out. tremoloman2006
You are awesome. Above and beyond my expectations when I started this thread. Wish I could rep you for each one of these files! Thanks man... glad you are enjoying the files. The Starpath is an amazing piece of hardware for its day. Too bad the video game crash kept it from being a big hit. Had this been released a year prior I'm sure it would have sold like hotcakes.
Mark Wolfe
@tremoloman2006: just realized you posted way back when in those links I referred to. I guess it did not register since you said in this one that you just finished ripping it, when you had done it all those years ago: as you stated here #9 after you saw my post here #3. it looks like you just copied the post verbatim and re-posted it. sorry I did not make the connection sooner here is the original link, http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/123663-need-help-looking-for-worship-the-woodgrain-or-rom-on-mp3-for-supercharger/ I wish this stuff would get pinned to the top of this forum, here is ht more official listing w/ links: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/125293-worship-the-woodgrain-in-mp3-format-4-disks-2pg-track-list/ and here are nukey's hacks also made into MP3 format, my post here has a link: #133 original thread here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/65897-supercharger-conversion-hacks I need to make another batch, volume 2, of nukey's hacks made into MP3s for the supercharger but like I said before, after the release of the Harmony cart, I just kinda left the supercharger behind
tremoloman2006
Funny thing is I *DID* just re-rip it! Since the rapidshare link was dead and I couldn't sleep that morning I decided to re-rip the whole disc. It is cool loading games from your MP3 player. Long live the 2600! toiletunes
I don't currently have a dedicated mp3 device, so I put the audio files on my psp and plug the supercharger into the psp headphone jack- it works quite well. thank you for making my psp useful! I made use of my psp once I soft-modded it. if you're interested there is info here: http://psp.dashhacks.com/ then you can run the atari emulators on it My main use for it is to play all the PS1 games on it. once hacked, you can play your entire ps1 library on it, there are tools to make the files from your original disks, then pop them onto a psp memory card and you're good to go. boxpressed
I read somewhere that the mono plug on the Supercharger can damage the player with the stereo plug. Not sure if this is true, but it made me wary so that I might invest in a mono-stereo adapter.
Mark Wolfe
I read somewhere that the mono plug on the Supercharger can damage the player with the stereo plug. Not sure if this is true, but it made me wary so that I might invest in a mono-stereo adapter. it really should not be a problem, but inserting a mono plug into a stereo socket can cause problems in getting the signal to cross from one device to the other. if you check the links I posted above, there are photos and instructions on how to swap out that mono plug for a stereo plug. while it does not deliver stereo audio from the supercharger, it sends the mono signal over both channels so there is no problem in connecting the supercharger to modern devices. on my modification, I do away with that long black wire and put in a stereo female plug so all you need is a simple mini stereo cable. it is a much cleaner design edit: here is the exact post with pics: #38 Edited October 17, 2011 by Mark Wolfe

Video
Mp3 works fine, but the few I've used are ripped at 320 (from the few tapes I own, 1-7) so I can't comment on how low you can go before artifacting kills it. The sound file is pretty low res though, so I get it compresses good. I bought Stella gets a new brain, which has all the original games, but I don't know how hard it is to find. Flojomojo
It has been a long time since I've messed with concerting binary to waveform files, but as I recall, they're really small so compression doesn't really matter much, there's not that much space to save. I think I put some faves on my 32MB Diamond Rio player at some point, likely sampled at no better than 64kbps, possibly less. It was the dark ages of digital media so I can't be certain.
