Just finished reading an interesting IGN article called "Nintendo's Missed Opportunities". At first glance, one might think this is just another story slamming Nintendo and its business decisions. But I found it to be actually quite fair, giving Nintendo credit for viable ideas and explaining the reasoning behind these ideas, but then detailing a better way of implementing the ideas from IGN's perspective.

Read the article here: http://wii.ign.com/a.../1198294p1.html

One other thing.... until reading this article, I can't recall ever hearing or seeing the DS "Thumb Strap"!

I just read it, and I agree, very poignant without slamming Big N for their practices. The one item I think they forgot to mention was Wii Motion +

As for the thumbstrap, I still have mine. It came with the DS Phat but not with any future versions of the handheld.

Wow! I bought a launch DS and I don't recall ever seeing the strap. I guess that shows how much attention I give to the total contents of a box when I'm in a hurry to try out a system/console ;-)

That thumbstrap would be invaluable for certain cramp-fest games like Metroid Prime Hunters.

I kept my thumbstrap from my launch DS. Works great with the DSi etc. They really should have shipped future versions with the strap.
