I was recently at a local game shop, and while browsing through the 7800 games, I noticed that Xevious had slight differences in the labels… I am aware some folks like to collect variants and was wondering if this had been known? and is it possible that other games may also have various labels?

I'd be surprised if this label variation isn't known, but I can't say for sure (I'm not going to look it up, either!). I know there are other 7800 games that have slight label variations as I have kept them when I came across them, but don't have a list of those that I have observed handy. I have a vague recollection of having two slightly different Karateka carts as well as a few others.

Hi I'd interested in what game shop you visited. I have a couple of Disc Replays near me that have everything from Atari on up. I'm always looking for those game shops when I go for vacation or possibly there is a shop near me that I don't know of.

Yeah, I'm from Livonia :) Last time I went there, they had a copy of Smurfs Save the Day.

Their pricing system is so weird. They have some really hard to find games for amazing prices, but also sell common games for twice what they would go for on ebay. Oh well, at least you can score a nice deal there sometimes (although with 5+ of us picking it over, the odds are not in our favor).

I think I have both of these, would need to dig through some boxes to verify it though.

I looked through my Xevious carts last night and I also have both variants. The one with the bold, white label is copyright 1986 and all the other plain (at least I think they are plain) ones are 1987.
