I'm referring to when you are viewing a thread, sometimes I just don't feel like being able to see all the avatars. And half the time, I get confused and think that the status levels above the avatars are the person's id. LOL

Is it possible to turn off avatars and/or sigs?

If you hover over a signature, you'll see an "X" appear to the right of the signature. Click on this "X" and a popup menu will appear, allowing you to ignore that one specific signature or ignore all signatures.
Personally I think it's idiocy to hide preferences like this and I'm compiling a list of such UI atrocities and will be making a lengthy post on Invision's support forum at some point about them.
The ability to ignore individual signatures is new, though, and that is a nice feature.
Unfortunately there is no way to disable avatars (which are really "user photos" now). As this is a pretty common complaint, I'm sure Invision will be adding it back at some point, or a third-party will. At least when viewing threads.
