Hi all. I just got back with my brand-new 3DS. I just got one. I had tested it out in the car. Set all the settings and tried out a game. I only wish there were more games for it and am anxiously awaiting Mario Kart 7. I had a hard time picking out a game I wanted for it, since I don't really like Zelda or Star Fox, so I settled on Bust-A-Move Universe, not much of a selection now is there? I am impressed with the 3D effect, and I bought this thing just to play off-line games on. So, can anyone recommend some other game out now that isn't Star Fox or Zelda (and obviously not Bust-A-Move, which I got at Fred Meyer, a local department store, for $5 for some reason, so it is obviously the place to go to get one for those with a Fred Meyer around.) And I am putting Super Mario 3D Land on my Christmas list, as I'm not waiting for it as anxiously as Mario Kart.

Well the two games I bought at launch are the ones I would recommend: Ridge Racer 3D and Pilotwings 3D.

Ridge Racer:
- 3D Effects -> Very Good
- Gameplay -> Great for short bursts, which is what I assume most people are looking for out of their 3DS.
- Longevity -> Great, but to be fair, I don't play the 3DS as much as other systems, but since launch, I STILL haven't beaten this game.

Pilot Wings:
- 3D Effects -> Excellent, the best I've seen on the system. This is the game you show off for the 3D effect for sure.
- Gameplay -> Excellent, but short. If you don't want to get a perfect rating on each of the challenges, this game can go by fast. Otherwise, there is some time to spend here.
- Longevity -> OK. I had a BLAST with this game for about a week of play, and if you are just looking for a fun experience to hold you over to Mario Kart 7, this might be the game to get.

Yet another has joined the dark side :evil: .

Friend codes, anyone? Mine is in my signature. Just give me your friend code, so I can "confirm" your request.

The Samurai Warriors game is pretty decent if that's your cup of tea. And if you want a game that's a bit different, Steel Diver is ok as well, and has some pretty stunning graphics, although it's definitely more old-school than the others (and at $40 it's still a bit too pricey in my opinion). Barring that, and since you've already eliminated Zelda and Starfox from the list, the best is still yet to come, I'd say.

I will second Pilot wings and Ridge Racer. Great games that showcase the 3D well.

I also like Starfox 3D, though it's no real different from the 64 game (haven't tried multiplayered yet, nobody around here has the system >: )

I would reccommend Ghost Recon, it's a short game, but if you like TBS games, it's a greatone...well....ONLY one for the 3DS so far.

I'm looking forward to mariokart and marioland 3D as well.... In november they are supposed to get video recording support for the 3DS which could be cool....if I could get the software to rip it to the computer.

I tried it with 2 friends. It's not bad, and kind of fun, but the fact that your ship is constantly moving forward makes it very hard to aim at your opponent. The "webcam" feature is surprisingly useful for trying to hunt down your enemy (you press on your friends face on the touchscreen, and it will turn the camera to face that person until you let go). And yes, it is funny to see photos of your friends' reactions afterwards.
