Is the "new" PC version backgrounds the same as on the 3DO version?
No, they're different, and have a higher resolution. Example

I also played this game to the end on my Atari ST, and I loved it.
I also found out that there is an "Another World" iPad version, I think I'll buy that version to on my iPad 2.
But, looking forward to have a Jag version in the future!

OK, those are higher res than the 3DO. It's been quite a while since I've played the 3DO version, but I'm pretty sure the background in that scene is no different.
And will the Jaguar version maintain that resolution? Or be reduced down to 320x240, like the 3DO version?

Don't get me wrong, I think the 3DO version looks pretty damn good, and the Jaguar would do well to have a version at least as good. But I'd like to see better color/higher res and "different" graphics. I'm going to go look for 3DO AW pics to refresh my memory...

I'm back...yeah, they are slightly different, I do prefer the PC "look", but what will be the Jag's final resolution, something like the 3DO pics below?

I think it is longer that the ST version too.

Having played the ST and anniversary editions, I can confirm there's an extra scene not present on the ST version. I'm not sure if it's present on the Amiga version and simply omitted on the ST, but there you go, it's a bit longer.

you need to remember that if this is a cartridge relese which from reading that is what it will be, there is not a great deal of space available for what is basically pictures in a 2, 4 or pushing it 6 megabyte cartridge so they would need to be compressed or reduced in size, maybe both. halving the file dimensions can quater the file size in some cases. im no expert on jaguar programming, if it can be done with nice resolution backgrounds then im all for it but im not holding my breath shall we say.

For information, on the video shown by sh3-rg on first page, I demonstrated Another World during last EJagfest from my skunkboard. This was a complete version of the game, with all levels, (enhanced) graphs and sounds (even if monitor was silent due to what seems to be an obscure and ancestral malediction  ). There was probably still some bugs or glitches, and some things to improve (as the engine is completely rewritten, this is not a straight port from old sources), but it fits on a skunk 2, and not with a 6mb tick as I was demonstrating Ladybugged on other bank...
So we can be faithfull on having a cartridge release :D
