I would get the original one first so you can appreciate it first like so many have before. The Gamecube version though has great cut scenes, in a surreal stylized sense. I didn't mind the dialog though, thankfully Liquid's voice actor is the same, but obviously would prefer the original to it. Gamecube version doesn't have VR missions but has a boss battle mode. In the original I couldn't see a resemblance between Solid and Liquid, except in the briefing tapes, however in the Gamecube version there obviously is AND you get to see his tattoo better. As I said before, the cut scenes are great in the Gamecube version. The ones with Liquid Snake and Cyborg Ninja are probably my favorite action scenes of any video game and I think impacted the story and experience better than the original.
