My good friend Corey(who also found the 5200 Astro Grover Cart) found this 2600 cart. The cart has been tested and appears to be a final pre production of Missle Command. Pics included. The cart is currently being further analyzed for rom variations. We were able to even get the "RF" on level 13. Crazy that things like this are still surfacing so many years later. Enjoy!

This is cool because it's different from the "Lab Loaner" carts that appear on eBay all of the time. Are the Lab Loaners the "standard" 2600 prototype?

This was the standard before they started using Loaner Cartridge labels.

For the earlier Atari 2600 released games, it is like the one in this thread....I own some of them and they look this one....in fact, there is one that also includes a written statement to send back the cart when done using it....interesting.....in all likelihood, the cart on this thread is a final version....just in an older prototype labeled shell.

Has your friend decided what he is going to do with Astro Grover?

The Proto has been sold already, looks like it went to a very close friend of Corey. He sold it before he knew anyone else was interested in it. Considering it looked to be a final...I did not know if there was any interest in it or I would have said something.

I was the lucky one who got it from Corey very cool and i'm proud to say it's currently one of the capstones to my 2600 collection

Ah.. I love prototypes not only can they go for a bit of money they're also unique and special in many ways.It also makes you wonder, why was this game cancelled?

On youtube there's a great channel called 16-bit Gems/Clanofthegraywolf
He found an Earthbbound NES English prototype
http://www.facebook....anOfTheGrayWolf
thats his facebook

His retrowaretv channel;
