You know the drill.... Nice-looking Commodore 64 bought from Ebay. "Owner can't test" because they don't know anything about it, or they did test and it didn't work and they're pretending they didn't. Either way, same result.

Black screen.

But it does look like new!

So what I need is just a working motherboard, or a really beat-ass-looking one THAT DEFINITELY WORKS to drop the mobo in my case.

Any thoughts?

Thx.

James, you should mention whether you're looking for a board to fit into a breadbox or a 64c case. One can be forced to fit into the other, with some effort, but really you will want the one you have the case for. I think you said you have a breadbox style 64, but not 100% sure.

Good luck! They're out there.

"Unable to test" is classic eBay talk that translates to "it doesn't work and is probably borked but I don't want to admit it and get a quarter of my expected price".

It seems like 1 in 3 C64s on eBay have some problem or another - another very common occurrence seems to be cannabalizing the SIDs then selling as "working but with no sound".
