Does anyone have "Daemonsgate" and, if so, would you recommend purchasing it?

Donīt have it and canīt say if it worth the money it will cost you. This game was created by the same UK company that was behind Dinolympics and the great game Viking Child: Imagitec :) But as you know this game was never completed :_(

If the source code exsist and the issues of copyright etc is solved I hope someday someone will finish the game and bring it out in a proper way. Because this game realy deserves a better fate. But of course, maybe the same could be said about all unreleased games

This subject is also discussed in this thread: http://www.atariage....?t=3774&start=0

More realistically if this game would ever see the light, I think you'd have to recreate it from scratch and use different title/graphics and modified gameplay.

I don't think selling this title as 'Daemonsgate' for the lynx would cover the costs of a copyright.

Yes, you are right about that. I hope someday it will happend.

BTW The copyrights to Demonsgate must be owned by Infogrames since Imagitec was bought by Gremlin. And Gremlin was later swallowed by Infogrames I belive.

It's funny though... Infogrames is sitting on so much stuff that they probably don't even know what they have themselves half the time.
When you buy out like 15 differenent companies .... whats the point when all you do is SIT on the stuff until it dies? ;)

Weird... but true... and to think of all the wasting technology that could be put to use in some way or another...

The problem is that it would cost them more money in terms of effort to sift through the stuff. Of course they won't give it away for fear of losing some hidden gem, plus there could be possible legal issues

Daemonsgate has a lot of stuff in it, and it's amusing for a bit, but it is not complete or really playable to any degree. I messed with it for a few hours, a couple of different sessions, and never found any potions you could use. I did make it to a couple of cities but it's pretty clear that there aren't really any goals in place that you can accomplish.

It's a neat proto to own if you're into collecting, but not if you like games to play.

Eric
