My old NES's power supply has a rattle when I shake it. I believe a game-bit is required to open it, but I don't have it. Is it safely usable?
Thanks

I think the best way to determine that is to open up the power supply and see what exactly it is that's rattling around. Odds are it's probably harmless, if your NES is still being powered by it.

Those game bits are cheap you can get both sizes for like less then ten bucks I think... they're good to just have around, I finally have a complete gaming screw driver set... gotta have the tri wing and the x box controller bit also...

I've got all kinds of things that make a rattling noise, Genesis systems, controllers, random accessories, etc. All I can say is just open it up and find out.
Most of the time I have found it's just some little bit of plastic that broke from the housing. Such as the threading from a screw hole, or a piece of the reinforcement on the inside of the outer housing. I've never come across something with a rattling noise that was something serious like a circuit or capacitor or something like that.

Oem nes ac adapters require a #8 spanner bit to open. I got one at ace hardware for less than $2. Id be proactive and check it out.
