can someone point me where I can find the esp. the Menace stuff??? it must be here somewhere on a PC but I migrated years ago to OSX so not sure where to find it. if so... simply PM me the stuff? much appreciated as I searched the net and can not find it.

Hmm,

do not know where to find JBJ`s stuff on the net, but I find it on my PC harddisk, in a subdir named "unfinish". Think I did not download / did not keep all the stuff (e.g. I deleted the picture game-demos, which consisted of .PNG pictures only with no A8 code) and I also did not keep all the versions (e.g. Menace had 4-5 different unfinished versions, kept only two of them)...

Anyways, here is the JBJ stuff I have in my collection, including Menace, Contagion, ZForce and Shadow of the Beast. Don`t know if Paradroid, Project Xanthien (?) or Bubble Bobble was also on JBJ`s site, so I added it here. And last not least I found some JAC! stuff, named Timezone (which he should program for KE-Soft a long long time ago), so I add it here. Maybe JAC has the motivation to continue/finish this game someday...

.., as I said earlier JBJ.com is no longer online, the version with audio was on the site, along with the fast (no parallax and Antic 5) versions, I think the original disks are (along with all my old computer stuff) in storage, but it has been 10 years since I even saw them...
The version with audio and the Antic 5 version wasn't included on your site back then Steve, so if you have a chance to image the disks in storage some time that would be great.

Josè dont listen to them... Keep doing what are you doing. You can still use lot of sprites for animated game intros and than have few sprites!!!
Your games will be still beautiful!

Tezz,

Oops, my bad, I was sure the chunky version was there :(

Oh well, one day hopefully I'll find them, along with Trap, Psygnosis Barbarian etc...

Andreas, where did I missed the other BB demos? I only remember the title screen plus music but not the sprite demo...

I didn't release any wip personally but NRV did a demo of Bub in the early-mid 90's and VEGA also did an early example both of which I have on my main pc.

btw. Steve, did you put your website offline?

Yes www.jetbootjack.com is no more!

I decided to stop maintaining it a couple of years ago, and then the renewal came up and I decided to spend the money elsewhere :-)

To be honest the site was pure vanity anyway ;)

The materials are copied all over the web, despite requests from me to not do that - so it should be easy to find - if anyone wants to host the complete archive, just let me know...

sTeVE

Hi Steve,

Nothing wrong with pure vanity! I remember coming across your site a few years back and wishing circumstances had been different for Harlequin after reading the announcements of all the games and deals in NAU back in the day.

I don't have any hosting myself, and I think it would be a great shame for the Atari related stuff to be archived away never to be seen again.

A suggestion; (and I hope I'm not being presumptuous here) Flashjazzcat has the atari8.co.uk domain, and if he has the space, maybe worth asking him if he could host it either as a subdomain or sub-site? I think it would be quite fitting under a UK domain myself, seeing as Harlequin was always a UK venture.

If the necessary people PM me about it, I'll see if my modest hosting is up to the job. :)

This one looks quite impressive , for an A8 prod. But it again shows, it's not the type of game, the A8 was made for.

Any the VCS was made to maybe run a few dozen pong clones and then die out.

what's your point?

Do not worry, I already have the background to one level.
Done on hardware sprites, full screen.
Keep your fingers crossed. Next week I'll do with it.
You'll see how to work out in the full version. This video was my last leak from the game. ;)

That 100s of Rastersplits do not proof a sidecscrolling game with dozends of enemies?
Well, it's what the 2600 and the 800 have in common. The biggest powers were to find in ego view games.

Even more interesting, you showing me an ego view game, doing a proof of "concept" for a sidescrolling game? You surely work at a game developer business?
Believe me, a gardener wouldn't show a Rose to have a proof of a tasty apple, and both are from the same family ;)

Didn't know that... Probably we (you...) are also from the same family as the Elephants or perhaps the Ants

That wasn't what I was trying to demonstrate. I was trying to show that what a machine is designed for and what it is capable of can be two very different things. It doesn't mean that an A8 is infinitely capable (so I'd forget about portal 2 for the moment), but people have probably already outstripped what the designers had in mind for the machine and there's probably some way to go yet.
