+Philsan
As I always write, history is written by the victors. Atari (and Commodore) achievements nowadays are often forgotten by mainstream medias. So I was glad to see those pages on the October issue of the popular Italian PC magazine "PC Professionale", issue that celebrates 20 years of the magazine. I was very surprised because in Italy Atari 800 wasn't popular. Luckily journalists with an historic knowledge exist.
Heaven/TQA
I really love the 800 design... sad that it is so rare here in PAL county...
Bunsen
Luckily journalists with an historic knowledge exist. But why does the writer states Atari 800 was released in 1981?? Released Atari it that late in Italy? Why did he choose Atari 800 and not Apple II (or Tandy TRS-80 or Commodore PET 2001) as being first Homecomputer? +Philsan
I should have written "journalist with *some* historic knowledge". I've noticed the wrong 800 date too. Perhaps 1981 is the Italian release date but I am not sure. Certainly the article contains many errors and omissions (Amiga is forgotten too). Anyway, I was glad to see the Atari 800. +CharlieChaplin
Well, the Atari 400/800 PAL version was afaik first available in winter 1981 (small quantities) and spring 1982 (regular quantities) in Europe. Maybe that is why he has chosen 1981 for the A800. And thats also the reason why the PAL version of Atari 400/800 is so rare, in Summer 1983 the Atari XL appeared... -Andreas Koch.
