HI,

I already read the threads about this. This has to be a very common question. I want to see if I can take a different and/or new spin to the topic. I'm not asking advise which one to buy, since I already have the XBOX 360. My brother in law and me are always arguing which one is better. I have xbox 360 and he has ps3.

It seems to me, natural progression has lead me to xbox 360
Atari 2600 -> Atari 8-bit (The best one ever!) -> Nintento -> PC -> Sega Genesis -> SNES -> Nintendo 64 -> Dreamcast (love it!) -> XBOX -> XBO 360.

Now, I'm going to give my reasons why I like 360 better than PS3 and then some questions... Keep in mind that lots has to do with what I like, which is hard to convince others... no difference than liking some ice cream flavors vs others.

Here the reasons which I think are a matter of taste:
1. Controller. I can't stand the ps3 controller.
2. XBOX live... tons of games to download and all the internet access that I need. XBOX LIVE ROCKS!

Here are specs that I think are not important about the PS3 (for specific usage)
Blu-ray to watch movies. Why would I want to watch movies in a game console? I don't watch DVD's in my xbox 360.
Allows other standard devices to be used... Who cares, how many things do you need for your game console? Also, the xbox 360 hard drive is a standard drive... so, I can change it using any brand if I like.

Another point is fitting more data in the blu-ray for game play. This makes sense. However, in xbox 360, lots of it can be downloaded to the hard drive, which will aways allow a faster read than the blu-ray.

Now here are the questions that I think can make someone decide from one device to the other. GAMES:

1. What games exist only in 360 that you cannot play in ps3 and vice versa and they are worth of playing ... ??
2. What games exist in both devices, that in the ps3 , feel and looks better??

well, I hope to have some replies... I'm looking forward to hear the comments...

It's almost a pointless chat though. When you get down to it, there's a very small marginal difference between both consoles. Some of the hardware may be different, but the results each produces is nearly identical (visuals, gameplay, sound, etc). It's not like the early '90s where there was a wide array of hardware in the marketplace, each with its obvious strengths and weaknesses.

As has been touched on the intent does not matter, a topic such as this is destined to spiral into a flame war as hard as people try the inevitable fanboys will enter and that will be the end of it. One is not better than the other, the same simple rule can be applied to any and all topics comparing any console s or computers, whatever is best for YOU is the best THE END.

No reason to not be civil, but I agree with the above posters, this will likely just spiral into a flaming inferno...

Agreed on the controllers, the PS controllers aren't "bad" they just are too small for me, the Xbox controller just fits my hands better.

Well, the Halo series is one you'll never play on the PS3. Not that it couldn't easily handle the game, just that it's owned by Microsoft. Apparently, it's dead, but I loved Mech assault, and would love to see more of those, and I'm pretty sure that's Microsoft too.

I doubt you'll ever see Gran Turismo on the Box, again, not because Xbox couldn't handle it, but because Sony owns it. I've never played it, but Infamous looks like it would be awesome (GTA with super powers) I almost picked up a PS3 just for that one game.

I don't know about a lot of games, but most I've played, look better on the Xbox, especially if you use an SD TV, and many are pretty close to even if you have a full 1080HD, though most I've played on both, I'd still say the Xbox looks better.

One feature that the Xbox has, that the PS3 doesn't have (and IIRC, sony said fairly recently they have no plans to implement it in the future) is cross talk. I love being able to virtually "hang out" with my friends, despite the fact that we may be playing different games, or doing other stuff.

One thing that throws me for a loop though, is the BD on the PS3, it allows for so much more storage space....strangely, a game for the Xbox still only takes up one DVD and quiet often, still manages to look better, or run smoother than the PS3 counterpart.

A used ps3 and a good blu ray player with wifi cost about the same. That made it a no brainer for me. If you havent used it yet some of the bd live features are worth checking out. Also I prefer the move over the kinect because I don't have a big enough room to easily use the kinect.

A little late to the game, isn't this? Especially since Sony transformed into a being of pure evil some time back.

This point struck me as one that maybe isn't so easily dismissed for all customers. I have more money tied up in my racing wheel than I do in any console hardware, and compatibility with most USB wheels is a big reason why I have a PS3 (I had already purchased the wheel for PS2 gaming). Of course, since Sony turned to pure evil, I'm sure they'll remove support for it as soon as their flying monkeys read this.

My wife seems to think that she can land me a 360 and Forza 4 tonight--I'm for it, but it just won't be the same without a wheel.

I think both consoles are cool..but I've never found a good reason to get a PS3 (I own several 360's for various rooms in the house). The games I really want to play tend to be on the 360, and those that aren't I haven't missed. I also really like the Live service. I've never used PSN but I have heard that it's not any better than Live.

I'm glad I got my Microsoft wheel while they were still making them because it is awesome. There are some good wheels by Logitech. My brother has one. I like my MS one better though. They can be had used for a decent price on ebay. BTW, I'm not a huge racing game fan. I really bought the wheel just for Need For Speed Most Wanted which I liked because it was an NFS with daytime racing and I like the graphics effects with the sunlight coming through trees and how it looks on the road. Having said that, I played the Forza 4 demo for many hours event though it only has one track. It just feels and plays great especially with my wheel. I think it is really cool how the wheel replays the turns by itself when you rewind. I didn't care for past Forza games but 4 seems really really good. I won't buy it full price but a year or two from now I will get it.

I may end up with the M$ wheel. We'll see how much I like painting cars in Forza 4. (painting is my current plan for the game) If I like it enough, I'll buy a Fanatec, if not, controller or M$ wheel. Logitech wheels have to cheat their FFB on 360--something about licensing--and aren't a good option. (hell, none of them are great options)

I actually promised myself that I'd never buy another Fanatec product after the mess their xbox1 wheel was, but times are changing and Sony became evil. Really I've already bought a Wii and an Onlive console, mostly out of hatred for sony, and the wife just left to work on a 4gb 360.

I love the logitech wireless controller for the Xbox, I wish they made one like it for the 360, so there wouldn't be a tumor on the back of the controller like the 360's...

beyond that, I see no difference between the consoles besides the exlusives, since everything is the same, and that is a matter of opinion and there is no fact of which one is better. I just happened to get a ps3, because it had more things that appealed to me.
