... something for Jose to salivate over...!

Once more, thanks to Kaz and AtariOnline.pl....

Looks like multi-coloured multiplexed horizontal ships using PMGs.

And some nice software sprites on top, moving freely.

I was thinking in that one (still don't have youTube available...)

GR.7, soft sprites and PMs.
It's called Embex in a tribute to Emkay... GR.7 Emkay Mode ;)

Yes, it looks nice but now build something with that.
Looks nice but it has so many constraints...

You can't have those beautifull gfxs. where the all those Enemys move...
You can only have gfxs. on those horizontal moving gfxs.

You can build a game with that, but never a R-Type or Armalyte where you have Enemys in the same scanlines as the gfxs.
You'll need lots of imagination to get something playable with that.
Eagle, the coder, said that he was still thinking in the pratical use for this...

The way I am using PMs on that Cybernoid, we could, for, example, have a DELTA clone.

And it can mix this GR.7 (or GR.15) Bitmap Modes...
For a Delta I would even need ANTIC4 but if Char-Modes better for scrolling and Enemys on screen would also be possible.

Later I'll post something about a DELTA type, even in an Emkay GR.7 Mode ;)

Holy crap.
It does already more than needed for a game like R-Type.
If this mode isn't able to solve sidescrolling games, no other mode can.

Holy crap it's what you are saying.
Post an R-Type screen example (or the same type of game...) and show how would this build that!

What you are seeing is real limitations of the machine doing moving objects, not static screen mockups.

The limitations in the form that the screen was builded.

Indeed, if it wasn't build that way, you wouldn't have all that amazing looking, nor or all that things movings...
The thing is: you can get that and build a game but it would turn repetitive because you can't do much different Attacking waves, you need to have always a Top and Bottom gfxs ground (or just one of them) but the Enemys must never go there,...

It's beautifull but have to be a great thinking in what that could be used... For something like DELTA maybe ;) ...

So, this can be used to build this:

Never it will, not in Emkay's beloved GR.7 nor in any of the A8 gfxs. Modes...
(and I am not talking about Hi-Resolution 'back' gfxs. ;) )

But it can turn possible something like this and even better:

;-)

Holy crap or what English/American guys say...

Just a thinking:
The pixels stars are made with Missiles...
Hmmm, those ships moving horizontal are 2Players Multicolour...

Hmm again... How to move less priority of those ships over higher prior stars?
(like ship P2&P3 Multicolour over stars M0&M1. It's so quickly that it doesn't seem to be any Masking between Players and Missiles... Hmmm :? )
Or are there only stars using M2&M3?

Just one more question:
On the top and bottom 2:1 gfxs. now in GR.15 and middle 2:2 GR.7... Could it be (any difference?) if the top and bottom gfxs have ANTIC4 to get a 5th colour?

Jose... sure... you can mix gfx modes like you want at least you are not exceeding 240 scanlines in total (on PAL). otherwise in most cases the picture output starts to roll.

This animation takes 2 / 3 of time vblank.
When double buffering screen and 25fps, it will be a lot of time on the logic of the game.
Not to mention the fact that it can be played digi.

I thought in this when you first posted it at AtariOnline and nothing came...
Then with this recent Cybernoid and other things I simply forgot, may something come...

And what about gfxs./Tiles/game map and sprites to build a game with the Embex Engine?
(the Stars are made with all the 4Missiles, right?)

For that split screen.
How about a 2 player game.
You have to carry stuff, ofcourse with nasty traps and stuff..
Put it into a "dimension hole" , and the other one has to put it back .
The first who has put all his stuff to the other side, has won ;)

From Emkay idea I am thinking in a Spy vs Spy type...

But the two screens would need to be the same type...
I talked with Eagle at AtariOnline but didn't get why one it's in 4colours and the other in 5colours.
Any reason for this?

One use PF2 and the other PF3, scrolling in software (then PF2&PF3 clash)?

Not Spy vs. Spy like. More a 2 player Moon Patrol
