I Opened My 1st PS3 Controller the other night. WOW! I'm glad I had two that I broke down because I was having trouble putting one of them back together. You know when you are unfamiliar with something and you take it a part, then something moves out of place before you saw where it went? My trouble was with the L2 and R2 buttons. Long story short I got them both back together.

As to why I opened it: They were both dual shock 3's. One was broke. It started not holding a charge. Then finally it would not come back on at all. No lights would come on when I plugged it in either. I noticed the connector showed some ware, most notable the center part where all the connections are made, so I decided to try to gently move it back. None of the metal connectors looked bent or anything, just the center was out of wack. That didn't help. So I popped it open to see how hard it would be to hack something together with some solder. It didn't look like to would be too hard but I had another stroke of genius 1st. Why not put the charged battery from the good controller into the bad one to see if that fixes it. At least that way I would know for sure if it was a power issue. I swapped the batteries out and it still would not come on.

Any ideas to what the problem could be?

B
