100_0627.JPG After doing alot of cleaning, I now have an Atari Subs in my bedroom. :) It was too heavy to heave up he steep steps into the trailer, so it had to stay down at the house. The bedroom door is only 24 inches wide with the strips and door installed, so had to pull those off before wiggling the machine in. This game had spent nearly half the year on Craigslist with no takers, so I decided it finally needed a home. It seems to work fully and is in good overall shape with some moisture damage to the top of the cabinet. Got a little to repair on the one bottom edge as well. Now I can clean the machine up and make any tiny adjustments it needs. First thing I'm going to do is pull off the front bezels and overlays to clean them and the screens. I can see faint scan lines on the monitors and which means the operator probably never cleaned the screens inside, opting to just crank up the brightness instead. Luckily I have both original manuals for the game. :-D

Well, so far the Subs game is holding up well. Cleaned up the screens and overlays which helped alot. Oddly, there was no noticable burn-in on either CRT which I actually expected to see. Either the Zenith CRTs hold up really well or these have been replaced sometime in the past. The left controls must have gotten the most use as the steering wheel on that side is rather wobbly, but still works. Any idea on how to remedy that?
One final note: two player is the most fun, but the computer player can get really nasty after so many points have been scored. I slammed my funny bone into the wall this evening with a wheel twirling dance to the death against the computer! Ouch!
