Is there a classic console you've never played? I admit I've never seen in person or played an Intellivision, Odyssey 2, or Vectrex. Never played any of the more obscure systems like Channel F and Astrocade either. I've always wanted to play an Intellivision. Might have to find a decent emulator and give it a go.

IMHO, the Astrocade and Vectrex are "must try" systems....two of my favorites to be more specific.

For me, up until about 2 days ago, I had never played an actual Sega Master System. Only via emulation. Now that I picked one up, I can't put it down. Wat a fun console with an amazing library!

Still on my list to try:

Chanel F
CD-I
Action Max :rolling:

I am sure there are others, but I can't think of em right now.

Intellivision really is a "must own" too, but not sure how someone who has never played one before would feel about it.

The list of mainstream consoles I've never played is pretty small. Might go something like this:

Fairchild Channel F (although I had/have similar controllers for my 2600).
Creatavision/Dick Smith Wizzard
That old b/w dot matrix handheld system from Milton Bradley
Odyssey 1
MSX (have played it through emulation though, great console!)

I've been fortunate to play, and own many classic consoles! my list would have been much longer just a few years back, but I have been able to find and pick up many old, and obscure classic consoles, and have been enjoying them very much!

the ones I have yet to ever play:

Bally Astrocade
Odyssey 1
APF-M1000
Adventurevision

I hope to find these and play them… some day
(I'm not holding my breath on the Adventurevision though…)

EDIT:
there are some 90s consoles I forgot about…
I have never played:
Laseractive
Amiga CD32

I'd like to have these, one day… too!

I still haven't used an Atari 7800, Lynx or Jaguar (except in emulators). I think that's a serious offense around these parts...

Unfortunately I have never had the chance to play several of the main ones.

Colecovision
Intellivision
7800
Odyssey 2
Vectrex

I do hope to pick up the 7800 and Colecovision soon though. It sucks being broke.

From the 8-bit era, the Arcadia 2001. I'm also fascinated by consoles that I never even heard of them BITD: APF and Video Brain.

If the Vectrex is on your want list, you should move it to the top.

CD32 is near the top of both my to-try and to-buy lists.

Of the consoles I already own, I've never played:
  • odyssey 2
  • Atari 5200
  • action max
  • v-tech v.smile v.motion or v.flash
  • didj
Then there is the list of consoles that I own and have spent less than an on. That one starts getting embarassing.

Well, ashamed to say I have never tried a Vectrex.. a shame as I have always wanted one.... (I have a retro 'man cave' in my attic, a Vectrex would look just RIGHT!!)

About the CD32... yea, they get a bad rap... but there ARE some great games for it... And at least one game uses 'auto-locale', Defender of the Crown II has all text and spoken dialog in the language you set your CD32 for..Pretty neat. *you access the locale by holding down Green at startup with no disk in, iirc. (or is it Red, LOL) ... or in French, 'Defenseur de la Coronne II , LOL
Simon the Sorceror II is a great game
James Pond II (extra levels not in the Amiga disk versions)

For early '80s stuff, I haven't played anything outside of the Odyssey 2, 2600/5200/7800, Colecovision, Vectrex, and Intellivision. For late '80s stuff and on, I haven't tried a FM Towns Marty, CD-32, Super Grafx, Pippin, LaserActive, SwanCrystal, GP32 and probably a couple of others. This doesn't count console model variations I haven't tried yet, like the Neo CDZ, certain 3DO models (Sanyo TRY, Panasonic FZ-1, etc), various CD-i models outside of the 450, etc. etc.

Colecovision
Atari 5200
Bally Astrocade (saw one in person)
Sega Master System
RCA Studio II
Odyssey I

I have played on an Intellivision, Vectrex, and even a Channel F (I've mentioned the story several times in other topics, but there was a guy at SGC 2010 who had a Vectrex, Channel F, and a Pong Machine set up for people to play, with just about every game for the Channel F and Vectrex on cartridge).

I've owned/played most well-known systems from the 2600 onwards. I have to say I have never seen a real Vectrex, strictly through emulation.

There's a lot of systems I haven't played from the classic era, and to be honest most of them I have no interest in even trying. I'd probably pass them up at a game convention and sleep like a baby afterwards. I would like to try the Vectrex though, that's the only one I can think of. Arcadia, Fairchild Channel F, Astrocade, RCA Studio II....meh I just feel indifferent to them.

Yesterday was the first time I played an Atari Lynx. I was very surprised and happy that I got it fixed up. :)

I have had a vectrex for years, but never played one yet... it never came with a controller and I never got around to modifying a Sega Genesis controller to work on it. I've been wanting to play it for a while too, I hear amazing things about it and I love Vector monitors.

The only other one that comes to mind is the Odyssey 2. I have played/owned just about everything else at one point or another (including the Astrocade). The Atari 2600 is still my favorite, but I am sure once I finally play the Vectrex, I'll be hooked.

There are a few that I have not played (arcadia, studio II, odyssey, cdi), but for the most part, I don't have plans to add them to my colection. The ones I haven't played & I want to have are the Astrocade and Vectrex. Judging by the posts above, I'm not the only one though  .

About the only classic consoles that I've never played that I would like to play are:

Vectrex
Turbografx-16 (I've only played some of its games via emulation)

I'm on the fence about the Jaguar. It's the only Atari console I have zero interest in but I feel like I should at least try it to make sure I'm not missing out on anything.

This post will be hard to beat. Another mod will have to say "I've never played any Atari game in my life".

A big hole for me is I've never played a Bally Astrocade. Heck I've never even seen one in person which is a shame because the games have always looked like they would have completely BLOWN me away back in the VCS days.

I mean come on.. this was an incredible port. Pretty much pure arcade quality

Never played the real thing:
Bally Astrocade, Turbografx-16, Sega SG-1000, Fairchild Channel F
(also VIC-20, MSX, Atari ST and Amiga; not sure if I've ever actually used a real Atari 8-bit either, though I owned a 5200 BITD)

Never even played in emulation:
The big ones are the original Odyssey, Emerson Arcadia 2001, RCA Studio II, Atari Jaguar (though I think I tried to get Tempest 2000 set up once).
Otherwise, I've never tried most of the failed CD consoles (CD-i, CD32, FM Towns Marty, etc.), early 1980s obscurities (APF-M1000, Adventurevision, etc.), non-mainstream portables (Wonderswan, Neo Geo Pocket Color, etc.), and basically anything that doesn't have a Mac OS emulator.
