seeing that the Atari people seem to be dying or something since everyone here apparently grew up on Nintendo (boo!), it was cool to see this article. Nothing that we didn't already know but need to see Atari and the fuji logo in the media again.

But me personally, I didn't know the symbol 1) resembled the letter "A" for Atari and 2) that the 2 curved lines represented the 2 players while the middle line represented the middle line in pong.

My favorite view of the logo is on the Atari 130XE demo, where it bounces around a checker-board field! Idea taken from an Amiga demo if I remember correctly!

Try as I may, I cannot see "Pong" in the Atari logo. I think the designer was smoking something when he came up w/ that.

Really? Cause I always thought it was chosen for the fact it sorta looks like an A, and that it was basically pong viewed from a 3/4 view or something.

anyhow, cool article

After reading Zap!: The Rise and Fall of Atari for a college report on the history of Atari, I'm beginning to think smoking stuff, for better or worse, led to a great majority of the inspiration at Atari back in the day. :P

my question for the diehard Atarians is that if Mt. Fuji is not the inspiration for the symbol, who originated calling it the fuji symbol?
