So, I bought my cousin Saints Row the Third for Christmas, it's wrapped and under the tree. However, when I opened the case before wrapping it it said "To experience the full online experience, enter this pass code..if pass code has been used you can purchase a new one." So, how long are these pass codes good for? Christmas is only a few weeks away, but still, quite alarming to me to say the least.

The pass codes are good until they shut down PSN or XBL. That's their expiration date.

But since you apparantly didn't buy a new shrinkwrapped copy, the chances are good that the code has already been used. Even if it was a opened "new" copy, it's still very possible that the one time code has already been redeemed by someone.

"Saint's Row 3 has a pretty ridiculous Online Pass implementation. It actually locks you out of system link play unless you've redeemed an Online Pass. It just seems crazy to me that something called an Online Pass is required to access an offline feature."

If you bought a brand new copy of Saints Row: The Third, you shouldn't be worried about the pass being invalid. The game came out fairly recently, so the packaged code should be redeemable for at least the next 6-8 months.

Did you buy the PS3 version of the game? If so, your cousin will be able to download a free copy of Saints Row 2 to his hard drive once he redeems the online pass. Note that the free download offer expires February 13, 2012.

Yeah I bought a new copy of Saints Row the Third, and yes it's the PS3 version..wasn't aware of the SR2 thing, that's pretty cool.
